Drawing a straight line using the pen tool

Recommended Posts

This has got to be so simple, but it's defeated me: I'm trying to draw a straight line on a blank part of the page. Using the pen tool and constraining it with the shift key pressed, I can get the perfect line. But how do I get it to stay there? How do I tell it I've finished? At the moment, as soon as I select another tool, or in fact do anything else, my nice straight line just vanishes. šŸ˜ž

PS. I'm relatively new to Affinity

I think it will have to remain one of life's little mysteries. "Leave well alone" springs to mind, so that's what I'll do. Perhaps when I've got the time I'll delve deeper into the whole applicationĀ and learn a lot more about it. Thanks again

this puzzled me

Turns out there is a simple answer. When you select the Pen tool the line width is zero. Increasing the line width makes it stay.

Easy to say this a beginners mistake. But I suggest a zero line width is a special case and as such this should not be the default condition. Why not make the default width say 10.Ā

The pen tool is a tool that for a beginner takes some understanding. Anything to make it easier would be welcome.
