Sudasho Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Hi I am totally beginner for editor software. when I start Affnity always ask to create a new document. What if I ignore that then start to edit a picture at develop and photo persona then save the file. What will it be? Do I really have to create a document? I usually display pictures on my computer screen and sometimes print them out at Costco. Also would you tell me a merit to create new document. thank you Quote
Wosven Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Hi, You can of course open an image and modify it. Depending of the file formatand what you've done, you'll be able to save it in the same format or you'll be asked to save it as an APhoto file. In the last case, you'll have to export the file to get another file format. Have fun! Sudasho 1 Quote
Dan C Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Hi @Sudasho You don't have to create a blank canvas to use the app, you can navigate to File>Open to open an image or other support file types into it's own document, without using the New File dialog. I hope this helps! Sudasho 1 Quote

In case you mean the Welcome screen with its "New Document" button at bottom right: You can un-tick "Show this Panel on Startup" to prevent its automatic appearance – and open it any later time via the Help menu. Sudasho Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 Thanks your your answer, Thomosa, but my point is do I must to create a new document before modify picture(s)? And when I skipped “ crest a new document” will I have a problem at the end when I save the modified picture as JPEG , Tiff , PDF or other? Again thank you for your help Quote
thomaso Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 It is like Wosven and Dan wrote. There is no must to create a new document. This is rather an idea of politeness in the app navigation. You just can ignore this question and offer, and continue to do only what you want to do, without any risk not be able to save your work.
