johnvsc
i dunno if this is still a problem, but i came here because i was trying to get the symmetry guide to be vertical from horizontal. i had been trying to do this with my fingers: a double tap, or two fingers. However, on a whim i used my Apple Pencil on a section of the symmetry guide (not the vertex)and lo and behold, i could adjust the line to any degree. So this solved the problem for me. But i couldnt do it w/o my Apple Pencil (+ whatever config i had set: like - only use fingers to touch gestures). Hopes this helps someone 😀
iconoclast
To rotate the guideline, position the brush tool over the guide outside the canvas. The cursor will change to a rotation arrow then. Then rotate the guide as you like. Edit: Also works inside the canvas, as I saw a minute ago.
Guest
Is there currently anyway to constrain the rotation of the angle of the symmetry guide (45˚, 90˚, etc) or to reset it entirely. Procreate has a lovely, relatively intuitive way of managing the rotation and reset of their symmetry guides by adding another (green) node along the symmetry line which can be used to rotate the line (the centre edit node is still used for position), and the angle can be reset by tapping on the green node and tapping the 'reset' context menu item that appears. Alfred
46 minutes ago, Bryan Rieger said: Procreate has a lovely, relatively intuitive way of managing the rotation and reset of their symmetry guides Affinity Designer doesn’t have anything like that. Rotation of the symmetry guides isn’t recorded in the History, so you can’t even ‘Undo’ to revert to the default immediately after (perhaps accidentally) rotating them. dxHendra
I am a newbie on AD, but I am amazed by the capability of symbol in AD that can create many symmetric lines. I am not so sure about your intent , but if I search keyword “mandala affinity designer” on the web, many explanations are available for creating such symmetrical drawings. I am not sure if that is the one you are looking for. Thanks.
