Curve scaling seems wrong (even with "Scale with object")

I have this curve:

 

 

that I then try to resize to a fraction of its size, while holding SHIFT to keep its aspect ratio (I make sure to have "Scale with object" set).

Unfortunately, the result is disconcerting:

 

If instead of doing this, I first click "Convert to Curves", it seems fine. But why is that?

Yeah, that’s weird.
I’m not sure what is supposed to happen but what is happening doesn’t look quite right to me.
I’ve attached a video showing what happens when “Scale to Object” is switched off, both with the Move Tool and the Node Tool.

Select all nodes with "Corner Tool" and click on the "Bake Corners" button in the context bar.

Corners from the Corner-tool are not scaling proportionally with the object - there are already some complaints about this behaviour in the forum.

Baking Corners is the only option here - already mentioned above.
