Hi Guys,

I hope this is a bug and not a feature. :)

I'm using different text sizes for the layout (obviously) and need the text to be aligned exactly to the left. And strangely the bigger the text the bigger is the left indent. I've checked everything I could - all the paragraph indents/insets are set to zero. The text is left aligned.

How to fix this?

Thanks for help.

Fonts have what are called "bearings." Bearings are "padding" beside the left and right sides of a character and the "bounding box." The larger the font size, the larger the space appears to be.

If you really need to have type aligned to the left side of the text frame, you can use optical margin alignment in your text paragraph styles and set the same or differing amounts per character or ranges of characters.

Hm. Is there any other way to change it manually anytime without creating and editing the particular Text Styles?

I have no idea which letter will be on the next line and don't want to edit the style for all the letters...

One can add all letters for any given percentage amounts...

However, you can do what people with InDesign for titles and such. Add a thin or regular space vefore the title and track or kern the space out.

This will only work for the larger sized-text and only the first line. So only really appropriate for the larger, single line titles that show the defect the most.

Depending on the kind of text (e.g. large headings) you might prefer "Art Text" instead of "Frame Text".  In Art Text the "bearings" just don't appear:

God bless you! :-)))

Still not the ideal solution as I tend to use text boxes of the same length, for example. If I use Artistic Text and try increase the length of the box the text transforms, in this case it is stretched to the desired length.

However it is at least some solution to the headings and titles.

Thank you for help!
