Birds and Wildlife editing

Recommended Posts

I have been an amateur wildlife photographer for over 50 years (rather less for digital), and I have never felt the need for any post-processing procedures specific to wildlife. I have always found that the standard procedures do what I want.

What do you think that you need that is wildlife-specific?

Perhaps a professional wildlife photographer  might have more to say on this topic.

Thankyou for your reply.

Not new to photography just now turned to photographing birds as the legs are not as young as they used to be. When I look at some of the images online they put mine to shame with how vibrant they look so was just looking for some tips and hints. I no like all photography light is the thing but sometimes you don't always get that and that is when I find my images suffer some what. I live in a place where most of the year we have very harsh sunlight (Rhodes Greece) and it is hard to get that light right in camera.

Why not upload a few of the images you are "dissatisfied" with to see how others would enhance them using Affinity Photo.

You will then get an idea of what is possible and maybe you can obtain further help/instructions as regards some of the retouched images you like the look of.

I was surprised by how fast my shutter speeds need to be, and how rarely I get decent light - trying to strike a balance between noise reduction, preserving detail and getting appealing colours might be an issue.
