Darkest_hope Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Okay, bit of a weird one, but my father had Affinity Designer on his computer, thought it was a great program however his life was cut short by cancer cause life is a bitch but that's another story. The computer is often still used and another member of the family is really into it, but would like to somehow add that program/license to their account on their own computer, as they already have affinity photo. I presume this isn't possible to do, but thought i would ask just in case. Quote

Cecil Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 If, as I see it, family member was granted full access and computer handed down to him, he should be able to use, if he did not delete, the email address and/or account password saved by a Password Manager or even paper documentation. An immediate family death, it seems to me, should not be a major concern for and company. Compassion. My post was that the license was not transfered it lives on in the original owners personal computer. Do I dare tell my wife not to open AP on my computer and touch up a photo using AP? It's an interesting situation, and I have no idea how it would play out legally. And it might depend on where you purchased, and which OS. If purchased from Serif, then while you're alive, you can let others use your computer, including the Affinity a. And if your wife had a computer that you owned or purchased then she could use your Affinity applications there, for non-commercial purposes. But upon your death, does the license transfer to her? I honestly don't know, but I suspect that it would transfer. She would, of course, need to know the email address that you used to purchase the programs, and the password you use for the Serif Store. But the Serif team might be able to give her a password if she provided proper estate or probate information. Any definitive discussions about situations like that are probably best discussed directly with Serif via email. Wife and I (also daughter & son) have Touch ID’s and password set for iPad and iMac password, and each Face ID and a password on iPhone. As we use Apple’s password manager, this allows all to gain access if something happens to one or both of us. It happens and those left to mange our accounts, closed them, etc., as I see is essential. How they manage my computer, after I escape Planet Earth, I have no control. walt.farrell 1 Quote Cecil iMac Retina 5K, 27”, 2019. 3.6 GHz Intel Core 9, 40 GB Memory DDR4, Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB, macOS,iPad Pro iPadOS Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection
