Hi
In the latest beta, the program freezes after dragging a shape layer either above or below an image layer.
In this case a rectangle has been dragged below the image layer.  Earlier test also froze when dragging a shape above the image layer.
Task manager closes the program easily enough.
Regards
Robert

I am not getting that here. I drew a rectangle extending above and below the canvas and was able to drag the layer up and down with no problems. However my background layer is "pixel" and not image like yours

I tried too the latest beta in my PC, Win10. No freezes.

Thanks for the responses. Just tried again with a pixel layer. As soon as the rectangle layer is moved, it's an instant freeze.
No idea if a reinstall would help, but will try anyway.

Do what they call a "Control runup" which is holding down the control key while you start the program. It will bring up a menu that lets you clear some data including possibly some of your customization. Try with the first thee checked and see if that fixes it.

Hi Rick
After downloading the 604 beta the problem persisted, however your suggestion did the trick.
Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks for your report. This happens when the layer panel is floating and should be fixed a future beta and release build. (For now you could dock the layers panel)

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Crash reordering layers via drag/drop when floating) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below.

The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts.

These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version.

Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.1/1.8.2 update/patch to all customers.
