drphoto Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 The user created crop presets do not move the crop guides like the built in presets do, or like they did in 1.6.5. This is an issue that's been reported in a few other threads (see below) in releases after 1.6.5 to 1.8.0 betas. It was reported to be fixed in the 1.8.0 GM release, but it seems to be back. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/81215-fixed-user-created-crop-tool-presets-have-no-effect-170258/ https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/87288-the-user-created-crop-presets-dont-seem-to-work-properly/ https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/96392-user-created-crop-tool-presets-have-no-effect-172471/ https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/94979-crop-problem-still-not-fixed/ Quote
Staff Gabe Posted March 3, 2020 Staff Posted March 3, 2020 Hi @drphoto, It seems to be fixed on macOS only. I updated the issue on our end Quote

Staff Patrick Connor Posted March 15, 2020 Staff Posted March 15, 2020 We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Crop tool inconsistency - Landscape vs Portrait [Windows]) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below. The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts. Affinity Photo 1.8.1.611 for Windows Affinity Photo 1.8.2.174 for Mac Affinity Designer 1.8.1.611 for Windows Affinity Designer 1.8.2.4 for Mac Affinity Publisher 1.8.2.619 for Windows Affinity Publisher 1.8.2.619 for Mac These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version. Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.1/1.8.2 update/patch to all customers. FrankS Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 When setting a preset in the crop tool to 1050x1650 px and choosing that preset when using the crop tool the crop on the context tool bar to the right of the dpi box shows a different dimension of 610x960px and after cropping and looking at the document in the resize document window I see that my crop is to the 610x960px and not to the preset. I am using Affinity Photo 1.82.620 Looking through preferences I did not see any selection to be made that would effect this setting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. crop_image.afphoto Quote
Staff Gabe Posted March 30, 2020 Staff Posted March 30, 2020 Hi @FrankS The preset you use is "custom ratio". This will make the crop region a ration, and not an actual pixel value. In that field, you set the ratio (16:9 for example), and the "Crop" values on the right will show the final Pixel values. When using the Custom Ratio mode, there should not be any documents units (we're already aware of this bug), so I see why people might get confused. To get the correct crop size in a sample, you can use the "Resample" mode. Quote
