Jeremy Bohn Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 When I create a new mask for a layer, it would be great if Affinity Photo would automatically select the mask. That way I can start manipulating it right away. What happens right now: - click on a photo layer - click the mask button in the layers panel - a new mask layer is created below the photo layer - I have to click the new mask to select it - now I can start using the paintbrush on it It would be helpful if I didn't have to select the mask each time. I was working on a job yesterday where I needed lots of little masks and it would have been time saving. Thanks! Quote
walt.farrell Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I don't have that experience, Jeremy. When I create a mask layer for a pixel layer in Photo, it is selected automatically and I can immediately paint on it. Possibly a Mac vs Windows difference? (And, possibly, a bug?) Jeremy Bohn Posted February 24, 2020 Author Posted February 24, 2020 Sounds like it. It happened to me over and over yesterday. I just tried it in the beta and it behaves the same way there too. I'll post in the beta forum. walt.farrell 1 Quote

The mask is not selected (no highlight colour for anything in the Layers panel) but if I start painting I am painting on the Mask. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
Jeremy Bohn Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 I think you're right Bruce. I just tried it again. I just assumed that it was not selected because nothing is highlighted in the panel. Perhaps that can be added because it's misleading. Old Bruce 1 Quote
