When I create a new mask for a layer, it would be great if Affinity Photo would automatically select the mask. That way I can start manipulating it right away.

What happens right now:

- click on a photo layer

- click the mask button in the layers panel

- a new mask layer is created below the photo layer

- I have to click the new mask to select it

- now I can start using the paintbrush on it

It would be helpful if I didn't have to select the mask each time. I was working on a job yesterday where I needed lots of little masks and it would have been time saving. Thanks!

I don't have that experience, Jeremy.

When I create a mask layer for a pixel layer in Photo, it is selected automatically and I can immediately paint on it.

Possibly a Mac vs Windows difference? (And, possibly, a bug?)

I have been ignoring the bolded step. The mask is not selected (no highlight colour for anything in the Layers panel) but if I start painting I am painting on the Mask. This is on Mac OS 10.14.6

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
