I can't seem to find a bitmap image mode setting anywhere? This is a key feature for anyone working with print and for placing images into Publisher where you would be able change the colors. Would love to see this basic feature implemented!

That is not what I wanted to hear. I was hoping to consolidate programs and Affinity would eventually include this function for a better workflow.

I don't understand why. It is super useful and Photo doesn't offer any way to achieve this using a filter etc. I generally agree with the direction but this makes no sense to me.

Yep, still very disappointed. I have an inkling their decision has something to do with the underlying draw engine/render/layer code, and it would mean a complete/separate rewrite, which they cannot / will not undertake. Might be wrong, though.

Damn, okay I didn't know that. I didn't figure it would be such a big deal.

Please take my thoughts regarding the underlying reasons for their decision with a grain of salt. I have no insight in their development or code at all, and it is merely a hunch. Their reasons for not wanting to implement a 1bit mode in Photo are their own, of course.
