skylamar Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I own Affinity Designer for Mac. Today I was trying to change the size of a group of objects by dragging. I held down the shift key, hoping to constrain the group's proportions. However, I found that it didn't work--I could still skew the objects so they lost their proportions. Am I doing something wrong? Quote
RNKLN Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 If it's a group of objects (like in the attached image) , you simply take one of the corners and drag. It will maintain aspect ratio. R C-R Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Check the setting of the "Move Tool Aspect Constrain" option in Affinity Designer > Preferences > Tools. There are 3 possible settings: Automatic (based on selection) -- constrains only objects that have a 'natural' aspect ratio (like Image layers) Constrain by default -- constrains unless the Shift key is held down Do not constrain by default -- constrains only if the Shift key is held down So basically, if the aspect ratio is not being constrained when you drag a corner with the shift key held down, try it without holding down the shift key, or choose the option above that you prefer. skylamar Posted January 19, 2020 Author Posted January 19, 2020 R C-R, thanks! My Preferences had been set to Automatic. I've switched the setting to Do not constrain by default and now the group constrains when I hold down the shift key! Quote
selcukyilmaz Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 I am using Constrain by default. It is very comfortable. (: Quote
