Frozen Death Knight Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Been trying today the latest Betas for Publisher and Photo and also the live 1.7.3 versions of each program and I have encountered this issue in every version when trying it today. The current command alt+R click+L click to change brush size/hardness just doesn't work when using my Wacom Cintiq 13 inch HD tablet (Have fully updated drivers.). I know that the devs have addressed some bugs in the Photo Beta that will come out soon, but when the issue began popping up in the live versions (Again, since it isn't the first time I have had big issues with this command.) I felt like it was time to make this thread. Holding down R click and L click with a tablet pen or with a macro button on the tablet itself have had plenty of issues in the past. I have said this many times before in older threads that I really dislike this command, but I have been able to "deal with it" because my tablet was able to create a single button macro that circumvented the problem. Not anymore though, since the macro button I made is completely broken. I can no longer change brush size and have to instead use my mouse to use this shortcut at all. Please, change the shortcut to something simpler like alt+R click, R click, or maybe even ctrl+L click. I really don't want to deal with this bug anymore. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted December 16, 2019 Staff Posted December 16, 2019 Hi @Frozen Death Knight, I just tried it on our Wacom 13inch HD and works fine. No issues at all. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by On 12/13/2019 at 4:20 PM, Frozen Death Knight said: Holding down R click and L click with a tablet pen or with a macro button on the tablet itself have had plenty of issues in the past. You don't need to map left click. The tip of the pen works as a left-click when you . So, you would only need to map one of the rocker buttons as Right Click, and use the alt on the keyboard or Tablet. Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 On the other hand, @Gabe, it would be handy if the shortcut would work on laptops with a touchpad, where it's impossible to both left- and right-click at the same time. Desktop 2019.12.17 - 00.05.30.01.mp4 This is what happens when I use tablet only vs mouse and keyboard only in the current Publisher Beta, since that's the latest version (Photo and Designer still haven't got the high precision tablet input bugs fixed.). The times I can change brush size/hardness in the Beta are when I switch to my mouse. Yes, I know how to use R click+L click with my pen. It just doesn't work. I tried going back to 1.7 and when I did a Display Toggle it all of a sudden started to work again in that version. I don't know what's going on, but at least that seems to work. Still, this command has been a massive pain because it has a long history with me for being unreliable with tablets thanks to the R click+L click aspect. I am however one of the lucky ones, since my pen can actually hold down those at the same time by using Wacom macros. Not every tablet has that luxury. Please change it to alt+R click or something similar. The current command just isn't practical for tablet users and are primarily designed for a mouse and keyboard. Quote

It should, however, be fixed in the next one. Also, being an early beta, it's expected to have some bugs. As far as this post goes, the shortcut works fine and as expected in 1.7.3 (Retail). If you have an issue with a beta build, please create a new post in the beta section for that app. Quote

Desktop 2019.12.18 - 22.37.56.01.mp4 Never had this problem with Photoshop and that program has alt+R click, a far simpler shortcut to perform. Any form of R click+L click in Affinity is the only type of shortcut that has historically not worked 100% of the time. Right now it is the only command I can't use with my tablet. Can we get a simpler shortcut for Affinity so we stop getting hiccups like these, please? Quote
