ruvy Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Mover from win 7 to Win10. installed affinity fine. When trying to start a message appears saying .NET Framework is missing V4 sending me to the application developer... Strange thing, it is there as a part of windows 10. Checked the registry and it is indeed there @ v.4.8. tried to reinstall it but was blocked. Now I can't use Affinity photo. Any advice how to overcome this problem Quote

Dan C Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Hi ruvy, Welcome to the forums There are a few things to check here - firstly the screenshot you have provided shows the application DxO PhotoLab is failing to run here. Could you please confirm, is this issue happening for Affinity apps as well, or only for your DxO app? Secondly, please download and run the following tool, then provide a screenshot of the result - it should look as follows: http://www.asoft.be/prod_netver.html Thirdly, please try downloading and installing the .NET 4.8 framework directly (https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/net48) - Does this install correctly, or do you see another error message? Many thanks in advance! Quote
ruvy Posted December 13, 2019 Author Posted December 13, 2019 1. no problem installing. problem in opening 2. Yes its the same error I get for affinity as for DXO 3/ After I am trying to re-install .net framework again there is a blocking notification stating the program is already installed and reinstalling it is blocked 4. walt.farrell Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Could you show the error occurring with Photo rather than with DxO? You've shown us the DxO error twice, but it's not really relevant to this forum. walt.farrell Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Thanks. I just noticed something in your Asoft results: It didn't show that you have any 64-bit versions of .NET installed. It should have included: <64Bit> 2.0.50727.9148 ->C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727 4.8.4075.0 ->C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319 or something like that after the <32Bit> section. Are you sure you're running a 64-bit version of Windows 10? ruvy Posted December 14, 2019 Author Posted December 14, 2019 It a new install and must be 64bit Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Thanks for the confirmation. Still, it's odd that Asoft didn't report any 64-bit .NET versions installed. And since .NET 4.8 is required by Photo and DxO, but apparently missing for 64-bit mode, that would explain why neither program is starting. I'm surprised that you could end up with a 64-bit Windows without any 64-bit .NET installed. And when you tried to install .NET 4.8 it told you it was already installed. I'm out of ideas, I'm afraid. But since Asoft, DxO, and Photo all say that .NET 4.8 isn't there it feels like an issue with your Windows setup. Microsoft provides a .NET Framework Repair Tool to fix configuration errors in .NET. Perhaps that would help? ruvy Posted December 14, 2019 Author Posted December 14, 2019 Thank you Walt. Your efforts are much appreciated. Obviously it is a Windows problem however I have contacted tech support from affinity, DXO and Capture1, all are suffering from same issue but only you have responded so far. As said, much appreciate. Quote

Dan C Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Hi ruvy, apologies for the delayed response. Could you please update us with your current status of this issue? What have Microsoft suggested to you thus far? I'd like to request a copy of your Event Viewer log, as I'm hoping this will be able to provide me more information. 1.Please open Windows Run (Windows Key + R) then paste the following string and press OK: eventvwr 2. In the window that opens, select the Windows Logs drop-down list on the left and then Applications 3. With the Applications logs selected, navigate to the right side of the window and select Save All Events As ... and save them as .evtx (the default option). 4. Attach this saved file to your reply. Many thanks in advance! Quote
ruvy Posted December 16, 2019 Author Posted December 16, 2019 Thanks for caring so much. Nearly 10 days after problem started and Capture one still didn't acknowledged my support request.... I think Microsoft support did some corrections but for the most part reinstalled windows without needing to start all over again. They were good and efficient. Fle you requested is attached Event 4 Dan from Ruvy.evtx Quote

Dan C Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 No problem at all, thanks for the Event Viewer log provided Unfortunately I can't see any .NET crashes between today and yesterday (all that is shown since reinstalling Windows) however I have found the following error shown below - We've seen this happen previously, please try restarting your PC, then right-click on the .exe file and select 'Run as Administrator' - this should hopefully allow the install to proceed without issue. Please do let me know how you get on! Quote
