If you're running iPadOS, the Files app will detect the SD Card when plugged in and allow you to transfer/read the files on the card, no need to use another app.

I use Sony a6000 camera and I have settings on jpeg and raw. Then I download photos to iPhone and hence to iPad pro(10.5). Photos are stored on IPad photos. When I transfer a photo to Affinity Photo, it opens as jpeg. Where is the raw file of the photo?

I use Cascable on iOS to view photos on my camera via wifi, and then I can transfer raw files in to Affinity Photo.

BUT, Cascable is only as fast as the wifi on your camera. It's barely tolerable in my case and I intend to experiment with a card reader since I have an iPad Pro with USB-C.
