via StudioLink -> Photo -> Document:Convert format and ICC not working

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I have a lot of RGB pics in my APub-Doc which I have to convert to cmyk and change also ICC Profile. I can do this with APhoto and than in APub update in the resource-manager. That works fine. But when I try do the same in APub via Studiolink it is not working. I can make the changes in the menues like in APhoto but the resource-manager tells me that it is still the same modus (rgb) and the old ICC. Even if I save this in APhoto (via StudioLink).

Is this a bug? Is there a workaround?

Thx for help!!

Please confirm the details of your workflow.

  1. What kind of files are you Placing into your Publisher document?
  2. Embedded or Linked?
  3. Are you clicking on Edit Image or Edit Document in the Context Toolbar, then switching to the Photo Persona? Or are you using the Photo Persona to operate on your main .afpub document?

I am using PhotoPersona to convert from rgb to cmyk

Thanks. But did you click on Edit Image, or did you just switch to the Photo Persona?

If you only switched to the Photo Persona, and didn't click Edit Image, then you changed the document's color space and ICC profile, not the image's color space and profile.

I am afraid I don´t understand you. I don´t know where to click "Edit Image" before I make changes in PhotoPersona. I don´t see "edit image" in the context bar.

With the image layer selected in the Layers panel, and the Move Tool selected:

Note that your editing will (I believe) affect the original image, not just the copy in Publisher.

Hey Walt,

I tried it... In a new document it works fine. In a big document with many pics and text and objects - it works sometimes fine, sometime not.

What I mean: I convert in cmyk like you told - and in the finder and in APhoto I see that the picture is really converted. But sometimes in AfPub in the ressource manager (after updating the picture) it still says that this is a rgb picture - but in fact it is cmyk.

That definitely sounds odd. I don't have any ideas, but perhaps another user will have a suggestion. Or, at some point perhaps the Serif team will have some when they get to this topic.

Sorry.

As Walt highights, if you are switching personas and changing the colour space then you are changing the documents colour space and not the image itself.

If you Edit Image and change the colour space of that image, then ensure it is updated via the resource manager it should update. If you do find you can reproduce this not happening let me know

Thanks
