  1. It's just a small bird (Kohlmeise, Great tit), but he has made me a little nervous. So many layers I had previously only in some large portrait illustrations. I thought so a bird is easy to draw, but he is not. Respect, little bird ;)
  2. Hi!, this's a illustration i did in Affinity Designer, i hope post more of my work. Greetings from Mexico.
  3. Hi Guys, I've been doing editing and design for several years now on photoshop. Self taught. I am looking to start learning how to create vectors. Is Affinity a good program for starting out? Or should I start on Illustrator? Ive been itching to purchase this software, just worried I might jump into the deep end of the pool too quickly. Thoughts?
  4. Inspired by some guys who show their impressive cars in this forum; pure vector, without pixel persona. A lot of work, but it's fun to work with AD ;)
  5. Another vector portrait. I love to work with the pen tool, the gradient- & gaussian tool ^_^
  6. Pure vector illustration. Clear lines & perfect curves. Love ... Vector!
  7. One of the main thing that I missed in AD when leaving Illustrator was the Image Trace option. Just to let anyone struggling with that kind of decision - there's a small cheap app (£3.99 pounds) in app store called Image Vectoriser. I hope I don't sound dull, like I'm advertising anything... just a simple solution for anyone that has a problem with this feature when leaving Illustrator.
  8. Hi, I once made it that I could use a pixel brush to draw over areas of a specific color of a vector image that became transparent. But I can't remember how I did it? It's a very cool feature where a mask is created automatically. Can anyone enlighten me how to do it?
  9. Possibly I am displaying my complete lack of knowledge about how computers work (seems like magic to me) but I recently switched from PC to MAC and while overall I wish I had done so years ago I really miss Paint Shop Pro, which I have used for almost 20 years -- but I'm now looking for a replacement. Your program actually looks really good but I note your emphasis on vector mode and I do a lot of stuff with raster layers also and I'm wanting to make sure that Affinity also works with raster layers before I check it out.
  10. Hey Folks, this is my first attempt at using affinity designer. I really love drawing in vectors, all my works are 100% (pure) vector illustrations, and now I'm glad I found AD - an awesome tool … think we're getting married ;)
  11. Hello all! First off...let me say that I am absolutely LOVING Affinity Designer! I'm using AD to do layouts, logos, ads and illustrations for clients and I just had some reservations about the output of files. I really have to have something that can go to the printers. Print files used to mean vector graphics, so maybe I'm old school, but I'm now realizing that a lot of the effects I do in AD end up being rastered/flattened when saving to PDF or EPS files. :( Is there a better output method that insures that what you created will be exactly what you output (besides a raster file)? I need industry standard files I can send to clients (typically PDFs). I hate to compare to Adobe, but if I made something in Illustrator, everything created as a vector image, remained a vector image and nothing changed in output to EPS or PDF. I've even had lines I created in AD with variable widths end up without the variation when I exported it (just lines of one width). I've also noticed when converting these lines to curves, they shrink in width. Any help on "best practices" on using Affinity Designer professionally, would be great! :) Love this app!
  12. I have an AD file that is primarily created from Vector components and I need to send the file to an external graphics printing company, pretty urgently actually. This graphics company uses Windows and primarily wants an Acrobat PDF, or possibly an Illustrator file. The problem is, whenever I Export from AD to PDF it converts some of the Vector components to bitmaps, which then causes a lot of problems. I have even tried exporting to SVG and then converting that to PDF using Gapplin. However, that too results in vectors being converted to bitmaps. So, how do I export an AD vector-based document into another format where I can guarantee that the exported file preserves all the original vector information? I have attached a cut down version of the full document that shows the two components that get converted to bitmaps on export (I have also provided the PDF export). Thanks :) Affinity-Export.afdesign Affinity-Export.pdf
  13. My girlfriend took a picture of me and I created a vector-based portrait from it. It looks simple but it wasn't for me. I'm still getting used to vectors.
  14. When I embedd several AD files into a new AD-file and export this new file as a pdf, the elements obviously are not exported as vector files. Exporting the source files in the same way separately, let me zoom into the pdf file without the fonts getting pixalated. Is this a bug or how can I set AD to treat the embedded files as vector files? Thanks

  16. Designer's block at the moment. Scribbled this guy in sheer desperation.
  17. Good work peeps, every update the freehand vector brush tool improves and gets quicker and more fluent I'm hoping it's gonna be as great as Manga studio vector pen brush or mischief with the added ability to export and use in a pro manor - just did some exports to pdf and all vector info is retained, whereas in the previous version it would rasterise most of the vector work - the attached pic is a character Eric Idol who is the band mascot for the band THE IDOL DEAD - I'd love to be able to do the next ldol Dead job with affinity now things are getting quicker - but it's a new tour T-shirt which requires Halftones and spots - DAMN! looks like it's back to illustrator and Vectoraster or Manga studio (AWESOME HALFTONES but no vector or spot output) and InDesign - IF ONLY..............
  18. Affinity Forums Hello friends, greetings from Honduras, now will share a link to download vectors and more. link: http://es.all-free-download.com The site is ideal for use with Affinity Designer. greetings To You
  19. Hi all Its been a while since I posted any work and I was wanting to make another custom icon for a device I plug into my computer again: this time my "Sony IC Recorder" voice recorder. I wasn't able to match the fonts exactly, but it looks good enough for me (especially when its resized really small when used as an icon!). I did find the advanced font adjustments useful at getting "close" to the originals. I was also quite happy with how easy it was to give the rounded effect on the top and the bottom of the device by simple adding more points to a gradient and moving them around until I got a convincing shading. I also took the opportunity to make a custom style for the LCD display, so now if I want one, I just click once and all the works already done! :) Hope you like it :)
  20. This little guy is Marvin, I stumbled upon him whilst finishing of a Marmite themed bit of artwork yesterday. Played with him and developed his character a lot more today, I have to say I really like him....and I may well adopt him to do more.
  21. I have product images and want to extract the product from background and lay it over a white background and as a vector(?) the output would ba a product image on a white background and secondly a file where the product can be extracted to place over another item to produce a group image (eg Vase, Bowl and Plate) from seperate images
  22. In Illustrator we need to use envelope distort to make an egg shape with a circle. What about Affinity Designer?
  23. AD doesn't have an eraser tool like Illustrator, so I thought I'd try simulating it with masking in the Draw persona. Is it possible to make a Reveal All mask in the Draw persona (like you can in Photoshop?) As far as I can tell, the only sort of masking you can do in vector mode would be like the Hide All mask in Photoshop where everything but the solid figures drawn on the mask is hidden.
