  1. When exporting (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S) PNG from Affinity Photo , there are options to export the area as 1: whole document, 2:Selection with background 3:Selection without background. I make video game art and export selections of layers frequently as i work on them. So I'm glad i can export a selection of layers as PNG without a background, but i have to manually set the area to "selection without background" each time. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the default area of export PNG from "whole document" to one of the other options? Thanks inf advance!
  2. Windows 10 Home 1809, Publisher 1.7.0.227 When I export as "PDF (for print)" my document comes out okay but when using "PDF (for export)" or "PDF (for web)" a semi-opaque layer - with fully-opaque sub layers - is exported strangely. See the attached images: first for print; second for export; third for web. I've also attached a cut-down version of the document. export_opacity_issue.afpub
  3. I downloaded your wonderful app yesterday, and am going through the tutorials, but every time I try to export some work to the photo library, the app crashes. Using ipad 2nd gen 1TB;
  4. I have been using Affinity photo Beta test version 1.7.0.209, when I export finished files to TIFF, the thumbnail image is corrupted , looks like something from a Hi Pass filter mid process screen, or some weird blend mode result. When I try to open the TIFF in AF Photo or ant thing else I get a weird pink rectangle, same shape as the photo canvass. AF Photo tries to open as a Raw File. I have flattened the image and even rasterized it to no avail. This is on around 90% of my work, occasionally I get one that works. I want to archive all my processed images as TIFF to save on disc space.
  5. Hello everybody, since 2014 we are comforted here .... I also need a dxf export directly from affinity. I do not want to go back to Adobe Illustrator. I have my graphics lasered out of metal. When is it with the DXF export so far ??? Please ...... Greetings from Hamburg Christian
  6. Hello, I have a drawing that has all vectors. There are no raster/pixel elements whatsoever, and every assistive shape that Designer has to offer has been converted to curves. Literally everything is curves and I still can't export to a PDF without it rasterizing. According to a graphics designer whose been working with this stuff for 20 years knows that PDFs can preserve vector elements, so he needed my graphics for laser-engraving a piece of wood, and he uses Adobe Illustrator. We tried .eps, .psd, .pdf, and .svg, and all were rasterized on export. From what I've read, Affinity Designer's export module just doesn't seem to cut it in the production world and is half-baked compared to Adobe's. It appears buggy and cannot consistently output vectors, if you can even achieve that at all. Why is this? Every time we opened the file on his program, certain parts of my document were rasterized for no reason. To solve this, he had to use the "image trace" feature to vectorize my raster export that should have been infinitely precise curves on export to begin with. Why does a vector application not export vectors without rasterizing them? That's like Logic Pro X not being able to export to a .wav file! Any help is appreciated.
  7. I spent a lot of time of time trying to get a selected area of my image out of Affinity Photo. With no luck. It seems "copy" only works within Photo and is not compatible with the iOS pasteboard. So, how do I export only part of my image? Either a selection or a layer? Do I have to delete everything else first? Apparently, this is an ugly hack.
  8. When exporting an artboard that is placed on subpixel (i.e. its X or Y coordinates are not an integer), the suggested artboard size on export is 1px larger than the real dimensions. Steps to reproduce: Create new document. Check 'Create artboard'. Set page width and height to 100px Select artboard, duplicate it, place the new artboard on X:120.5px, Y:0 Rename the new artboard to 'Artboard2' File > Export. Select PNG. Select 'Artboard2'. The suggested export size will be 101px x 100px. The same behaviour can be seen when exporting with Export persona. If the artboard is placed on round pixel dimensions (X:101, Y:0), the export size is correct.
  9. Would it be useful if you could import and export text styles? Single or multiple text styles together.
  10. Hi, it would be very helpful to get a PDF/X-3:2002 (1.3) export option. Like it is still available in InDesign CC. When working with small printing (also large ones) companies they often support / prefer this old standard. Because if the transparencies are flatten they have less problems. Yes, they want to use their "old" software. In the ever-shrinking print world they have problems out of the costs. A Software update would not pay off for a very long periond of time. I don´t need this type of PFD files very often, but with my last two projects I have had exactly this problem. Searching the internet it also turns up very often. Also here in another topic: Would be nice to see this option in on of the upcoming updates. Best, Thomas
  11. Hello, i have a problem with the export from a file in Affinity Publisher. I want to make a Sharp pdf file & keep the options with url-links. But all the exports I tried failed and created a faded result. Doesn’t look professional. Am I doing something wrong? Can someone help me please? I cant figure it out & need the file today. Thanks in advance!
  12. Hello there. Why is an embedded document (pdf) not exported unless it is rasterized before? For more Information: I had to create a banner with the logos of sponsors. I got them as different types such as jpgs, gifs and one was a pdf file. I've vectorised most of them in case of their small resolution. The PDF file was good so I did nothing with it exept to put it on the banner and resize it to its final height and width. Then I made an export as JPEG where the Logo from the pdf file was missing ??? Why? Is this a bug or do I have to rasterize embedded documents before export? Because on the next try I rasterized it and then ... tada ... all logos on the JPEG File. I tried the same with a new document. I put a PDF File on it and export it as JPEG and the PDF was not put in. I exported it as a PDF File again and it was also missing? I tried this with Affinity Photo and Designer too. Running System Windows 7 PRO Affinity Version 1.6.5.135 Jump_Fitness Logo neu.pdf
  13. Using Designer v1.6.1 under macOS 10.13.6, I have a 300ppi (dpi) document with 2 artboards - it includes 0.125" bleed. Each artboard is the same size -- 5.25" x 8.25". When exporting individual pages as PDF with printer's marks, crops, registration, bars and page info, the resultiing PDF size of the cropped area works fine and is, as expected at 5.25" x 8.25". However when exporting the whole document (both pages), with the same settings preset, the crop size somehow is changing to 5.5" x 8.5". This doesn't seem like the correct behaviour and is a different result than exporting the individual pages. Am I doing something wrong here? How can I get the expected results of a crop of 5.25" x 8.25" when exporting all the pages (whole document)? fwiw, my issue also occurs with the Designer Beta 1.7.0.3. 18-1639OHA-PDF-Export-issue-wholedocument.pdf 18-1639OHA-PDF-Export-issue-nobleed.pdf 18-1639OHA-PDF-Export-issue-withbleed.pdf 18-1639OHA-PDF-Export-issue.afdesign
  14. Hello, I am wondering wether its an issue or I’m doing something wrong, but when exporting a particular image it appears to get brighter in areas of the image which contain more light in the city part of the shot, but the sky seems to all get brighter.. what am i missing or have I found a bug? Please see the attached images. First two are screen shots, This is occurring if I export as a PNG, Tiff or JPEG, haven’t tried others yet. Exported File: 3DFBCE27-6DB5-4728-B46F-EE90FEB4C11A.tiff Screen shot of exported file: Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Hi, I encounter a problem when exporting files with file>Export >PNG-24 in Affinity photo 1.6.5 on PC windows 10 1809 (this problem occured in previous versions). The file exported is not recognized as PNG-24 (even well selected in the dialog box). I explain : I make games for VR and I have PNGs to send via web to store platform. The store always says that the PNG I send is not PNG-24. You may say it's a website related problem but NO : If I open the exported-by-affinity PNG in Paint.net software and save it again in PNG-24 => no problem. In short terms : -PNG-24 exported with Affinity photo = > Wrong format -This last Affinity photo's PNG-24 re-exported with Paint.net => It OK. Are you forgetting to add some tags in the file ? Making custom things in it ? (Another problem : when importing a fresh Affinty created PNG-24 in Unity, it takes ages, whilst not if created with other software). Thank you. Cédric.
  16. How can I export slices as SVG using Export Persona? Using Export menu I can only export one or all artboards :-(.
  17. Hi, I was wondering if there is any solution for my problem. I am using Affinity Designer for creating documents for my clients, all of them are based on few templates. I have at least two artboards in each template and I export them to two filetypes - jpg and pdf. Here is my workflow: I am opening last saved document of some kind - e.g. document-1005, then I am editing it with new data and then I am saving it as document-1006. Then I am exporting (ctrl alt shift s) each artboard as jpg and pdf - because filename of Affinity Designer file is kept - its all easy for me to keep filenames constant (I have in one plce files document-1005.pdf, document-1005.jpg, document-1005.afdesign). What would be perfect for me is to use slices to export. Right now if I choose slices - I would need to change slices name everytime when exporting them. I am looking for some simple solution like what I created in Photoshop. Simple java script - it can create subfolders (when I need) and/or save file as jpg/png/psd with prefix or suffix added to original filename. Is it possible in any way? Regards, triforcesolutions
  18. I’m just getting to know AD, and so far it’s been great. However, I am trying to export a recently finished project in a few formats on my iPad Pro, but no matter what I select in the ‘Slices Export Persona’, I always get .PNGs when I inspect them in the Files app... Does anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks!
  19. Hi! When trying to export a simple image, AD shuts down immediatly. I going nuts. Any ideas? Thank you
  20. I asked the export function to save the export in a different folder, bad mistake. Now, no matter what I try, it will not export to pdf, It gets about 10% then fails. There is no useful error message, so I have no idea what to do. I've quit and restarted. Saved the file under a new name, tried letting the program decide where to save. Nada, nothing. I would appreciate any and all suggestions.
  21. Since this subject comes up often I am writing a definitive statement. Fireworks (layered) PNG files There is no such thing as "layered PNG". The PNG standard does not define a way to store layers, and only deals with flattened images. Fireworks saves out additional layer data to PNG files in a proprietary format using a private tag. A definition for this proprietary data has never been made public. A PNG saved by Fireworks can still be used as a flattened image by any application that can handle PNG files. These applications will handle the standard data and ignore the proprietary Fireworks data. Affinity handles standard PNG files. But, it cannot import or export the layer data using the Fireworks method. There is no expectation that we will ever be able to handle Fireworks layer data in PNG files. We acknowledge that being able to support Fireworks PNG files would be of great benefit to users of Affinity. If a public definition of the data format becomes available, we will be able to address the issue. Layered TIFF files There is no such thing as "layered TIFF". The TIFF standard only handles flattened images as part of the publicly described tags. TIFF does allow for companies to register additional tags for their own use. Adobe registered two private TIFF tags that enable them to embed layer data in a TIFF. These tags are an extension and are not part of the central TIFF standard. These tags are used to embed PSD layer data into a TIFF, in addition to the standard flattened image. Since Affinity has a PSD importer, we are able to import the layer data from a TIFF if it has these tags. However, since this is handled by our PSD importer it is subject to the same limitations as importing a standard PSD into Affinity. We make clear that while we aim to provide the best third party support for PSD, we can never replicate 100% the way Photoshop handles and displays a PSD file. Photoshop has its own approach to applying alpha/transparency, vector masks and vector strokes, layer effects and gradients. This means that while we can offer importing of editable elements of a PSD file, the result will not be a one-to-one pixel reproduction of what you see in Photoshop. We have registered our own TIFF tags for embedding Affinity layer data in a TIFF, in similar fashion to PSD layer data. This is intended for use with DAMs that use TIFF as their interchange format. When saving a TIFF file, if your document has multiple layers you will be given the option of including Affinity layer data. This will preserve the editable elements of a multi-layer document. This obviously comes at a cost of increased file size. Our TIFF tags will use our proprietary data format and as such can only be used by Affinity applications. At this time we have no plans to save TIFF files with the PSD format layer data. PSD layer data held in a TIFF file will be imported and converted to the Affinity format.
  22. Hello, and happy new year to the community. Does anyone know why I can not export in psd to any cloud from my iPad? Thank you (I upload a video where you see what happens to me) E8903498-20D2-48D4-9BDA-DACF4E2309AD.MP4
  23. Hello! I am almost 99.99% sure this doesn't exist but I could be wrong (and in that case feel free to move the topic and give me a good tsk tsk tsk) There is a function in PS that I use ALL-THE-TIME and it's called "layer comps". It's the ability to export automatically a certain configuration of layers. One of the best examples I could give is when you have a product with 50+ colour changes and you want a PNG (or Jpeg or whatever) in each of the colour. It would be way counter-intuitive to take the one colour, hide all the other colour layers, save and then repeat 49 by hand What you do is record the hide/visible status of each layer (other parameters are available) and create a new "layer comp". When you're done, you run the "export layer comps to files" and you make yourself a cup of tea (with a hobnob, preferably). Now maybe it's possible in Affinity Photo (I don't own it) and I am talking now about designer... What gives? I think it would be a great idea as well for when you have a document which stays the same except for example a bit of text, or a bar-code or just a colour swatch. I never had to use it in Illustrator because I always found the layer handling in illustrator so sh*tt* that I always used alternative ways to do it anyway. (think the same design but where the text is translated in many languages for a packaging and where you need a file per language for example) Now with the fabulous "export persona" available, I think it would be a wonderful addition to the Affinity workflow, and I am sure I wouldn't be the only one to use it. I could be that you could export automatically groups for example (visible groups only) or at a layer level, I don't know if that makes any difference.... If there is a way to do it that didn't found, I'd be happy to hear it (It would be great for generating PDFs for example!) Thanks y'all!
  24. Hello, I'm having trouble exporting a design from the Beta version to the stable version. Copying and pasting doesn't work. Making a new file from clipboard doesn't work. Exporting to SVG or EPS resulted in many many issues, such as raster shapes, wrong shapes, etc. Is this a Beta limitation or am I doing something wrong?
  25. This post relates to this discussion in regards to anti-aliasing: Here is why the "workaround" for anti-aliasing removal in exports as shown here does not work for me (or at least I do not know how to make it work...). I use AD for designing t-shirts which I upload in a PNG24 format to several websites. Most print on demand providers don't want any transparency in the uploaded files. Although the workaround via the "Coverage Map" in the "Blend Options" works on simple shapes, it does not seem to work as soon as masking or clipping come into play. I have created 4 donuts (PNG24 export): Donut 1) No anti-aliasing workaround used Donut 2) Anti-aliasing workaround used (no masking or clipping used - just the normal "fill"-option was used) Donut 3) Anti-aliasing workaround used on masked donut Donut 4) Anti-aliasing workaround used on clipped donut (textured clipped mask for "see through effect (layer used to mask with has the same blend options of course) As expected anti-aliasing was implemented on donut 1 after the export. The workaround works great on donut 2 as you can see. But when donut 3 is masked, transparent pixels appear on the export although the workaround was implemented on every object layer. Donut 4 was clipped. As you can see the border of the donut is fine (no anti-aliasing) but the textured mask (which has the same coverage map settings for "no anti-aliasing" of course) appears with transparent borders on the "see through"-parts. Am I doing something wrong? A simple "turn anti-aliasing on and off button" would be such a helpful option in my opinion. Since I create designs with allot of shapes and strokes it is a big pain to have to manually select all object layers and then set the right blend options every time. This would be a great new feature, since this topic seems to be discussed/ requested for years now. Here is the AD file if you want to have a look Anti-Aliasing Demo.afdesign Lookin g forward to your replies y'all Cheers!
