1. ## ARC Tool Request

I know a number of people have asked for an arc tool over the years, but so far it hasn't appeared in Affinity Designer. It's an essential tool for drawing geometric patterns, e.g. Islamic geometric patterns, along with gothic tracery, arches, etc. Here is a video to show the functionality of the arc tool. Functionality: Snap the centre of the arc to any point on a line or curve, the end of a line, or intersection of lines/curves Snap the circumference to a line, the end of a line, or intersection of lines/curves by selecting the end point of an arc, extend the arc snap tangent to curves using the arc tool, draw a complete circle ==== VIDEO OVERVIEW BELOW >>>> arc-tool-hb.mp4
2. ## Arc warp

Hi, Just a quick question: The roadmap specifies "Mesh warp/distort tool", but would this include Illustrator-style "Arc" distorts? This function is absolutely essential, for example, for creating stickers for bottles or jars whose sides aren't perfectly parallel. Cheers for taking the time.
3. ## How to keep the arc of a curve when deleting nodes like Corel Draw

As you can see in the attached image I am trying to figure out how to keep the arc of a shape of line when deleting nodes. On the left is the Corel Draw X8 example and on the right is the Affinity Design example. Is this possible? Corel Draw can do. Is there a way to do this in AD? Is there some type of setting that can be turned off or on? Please help. Thank you.
4. ## NEED Envelope / Warp Tool

Why is there NO "Envelope" or "Warp" tool in Designer?! It's absurd! Envelope was there in Serif DrawPlus. Creating arc'd text (not on a path) is a BASIC text modification. With all the complex things Designer can do, why is this missing? This has been requested for years!
5. ## macros Arcs or Arches: a macro to bend images

This is an updated version of the Polar Quadrant macro I have posted earlier. Consider a rectangular image that you would like to bend into an arc: The macro has two parameters. The first (a or Sector Width) controls the fraction of a circle that the altered image will occupy. The default value of 1 produces an arc of one eighth of a circle. Reducing this to 0.5 gives one quarter of a circle. This image this parameter set to 0.5: The second parameter (b or Height below Top) controls the position of the centre of the circle. Setting this to 1 places the centre at the bottom edge of the image. Reducing the value places the centre above the bottom, thereby reducing the radius. The following image has this parameter set to 0.75 (and the first to 0.5): A few notes: The parts of the final image outside the sector are transparent. The parts within the sector retain the original background colour. The macro works with the latest 1.7 Beta (333). I have tried to set both the default parameters to 1. However, in the 1.6 version, it insists on setting the default of the second parameter to zero which gives you a blank output! You will need to increase this second parameter. It seems to perform properly in the 1.7 beta. The image layer is rasterized at the start of the macro. If you apply a small value of the Height below Top parameter (below 0.5), You will get a partial (or even full) mirror image in the bottom part of the screen. I have left this, since some users might want to utilise it. Otherwise you can crop the image. The macro comprises a rasterization followed by Filter > Distort > Equations with the following lines for x and y: x=w*atan((x-w/2)/(h*b-y))/(180/pi/a)+w/2 y=h*b-sqrt((x-w/2)^2+(h*b-y)^2) Here are the macro and macro library (containing the one macro). 6. ## Arc design by a specific percent

I have template that I'm working with to create a tumbler wrap. It shows that after designing within the rectangle, that you need to arc the rectangle design 16% to have it correctly wrap. The only thing close to an arc option I've found is in photo with the mesh warp tool. I don't like this option of rasterizing and not having vector elements. I also don't see where it can be precise in creating the arc. Anyone know how to do this? Especially keeping the elements vector?
7. ## Text on a Path question - arc

Is there a way to put the text on a curve on the inside of the arc? I made a circle then converted to curves, then broke apart at both sides. I now have two arcs one on top and one on the bottom. I want the text to be on top of the top arc which is how it does it and all is fine. But on the bottom I want the text to be on the inside of the line. I can't seem to find a way to do that. I tried playing with the start triangle but ended up with the text backwards. Can someone explain how to do this please? Thanks Sig
8. ## Polar coordinates and arcs

I understand the reasons why the rectangle is the dominant architecture of graphic design and UX. I work in data visualisation and analysis of network complexities - and often in that context circles are the reference geometry of choice - for good cognitive reasons. Right now when I need to base designs on circles I have to fire up Inkscape - which has a customisable polar coordinate grid plugin, and some very nifty arc, were and chord, modes on its circle line and shape tools that make graphical representations of number, proportion, kind and relationships quite fast (hours of very manual work and hideously hard adjustments and refinements) in most design tools that only think in rectangles. It would be fantastic to see Affinity designer provide tools that support layout geometries other than those base on rectangular (even isometrically so) geometry. My wish list.... - Definable polar grids (values and groupings for angle and magnitude) linear and logarithmic - movable origin. - Arc, segment and wedge tools for line and circle which positionable origin for freehand and parameter rotations. - Circular scale from selectable origins. - Special curves for point to point anchors inside and outside regular arcs - with numeric or slider adjustments of 'elasticity'. - distribution of selected line nodes along an arc (by degrees as an option).. - text-on-path that understands circular symmetries - left right, inside outside, etc... 9. ## Arcs in Golden Spiral

Hi all, I'm trying to create a golden spiral within the golden mean rectangles. I have the rects laid out and look perfect. So I need to add the arcs within each rect for all the rects. But not easy because there's no arc tool. The line tool sort of works. But I need the arc constrained to a perfect diagonal curve that is the same within each rectangle. I've tried using the line tool and controlling the nodes... But I cannot get the smooth consistent arc so that the illusion of the spiral is consistent from rect to rect. So this must be seriously easy and I am missing something. Maybe there is a mathematical property I can impose upon them? Please tell me what I am missing or how I am not handling the tool correctly? Appreciate, John... BTW, it would be nice to have an arc tool. Been mentioned as a some day but it's not on the road map nor in the list of frequently requested... Although I've seen it frequently requested.
