  1. It looks like text baseline caps at -59? I really needed it to go farther than that.
  2. Recently in my graphic design class we went over glyphs inside of Adobe Illustrator to adjust the printed text from text boxes. I'd like to see the same or equivalent feature in Affinity Designer. Glyph/Special Characters window: http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/special-characters/_jcr_content/main-pars/image_0.img.png/tp_27.png
  3. Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out how to take the text that I have on my image, and instead, cut those words out from the image to expose the background. I'm making a logo with a transparent background, and I want the text to expose the color of whatever the backdrop is at the time. I'm new to this, and so I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Thanks!
  4. Is it possible to manipulate text in a text box so that, for example, it is wider at the top than the bottom. What I want is to create a shadow effect on text as if a strong light is coming from behind. It is easy to duplicate then flip the text, and even add graduation, but then it needs the text to widen as the shadow lengthens.
  5. Hi quick Q about kerning. I don't seem to be able to adjust individual words or characters within a text frame. Seems I can only adjust the entire contents of a text frame? Is this correct? S
  6. How can this be done? I can center the text horizontally. Would also be great to be able to write text in an object like in Apples „Pages“.
  7. PASSWORDS! This isn't really a great piece of work. It's more, a piece of my mind. Basically I have a bad short term memory and HAVE A HARD TIME trying to remember them all...banks, work, phone, email, forums, Ebay, Amazon, iTunes, Antivirus, Pinterest, yadda, yadda ya....Rant over! This is best viewed at, whilst listening to Transient from their Blue Album by Orbital Roll on Affinity Publisher! Happy 2015
  8. Hi I have an question is it possible to write text on an line or objekt ? I used this future in Illustrator is this in Affinity possible ?
  9. I just downloaded Affinity after reading all the glowing reviews. Looks and works great, but I want to second the motion to support right to left languages such as Hebrew.
  10. Hello, I'm sure this must be possible but I cannot find it: How can I add a link (in particular a http(s):// url and a mailto: link) to a text? So that clicking on the text in the exported PDF opens the web browser / e-mail client (or does whatever else is configured for the PDF viewer for such links). Thanks
  11. I'm sorry to keep banging on about this one. I want to create a text frame/box + move it into position WITHOUT having to break stride and go to the tool box. It's the most glaring fault to an otherwise superb application. If I could do this I'd swear I was working in the 2014 version of Freehand! A hotkey/keystroke is the most obvious solution. or Somewhere on the active frame to grab/grip and move into position. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! text frame.mov
  12. This mock design has been flying around my head, since 1984. It was my attempt at designing a logo, that contained letters that create shapes. This is the firm that supplied the helicopters for Airwolf. It still takes me ages, but I'm learning...I have used theses filters, glass and onyx. These give the desired effects. peter Ps is Hilary the only forum member to have a filter named after her? (Sunset) jetcopters inc.afdesign
  13. I'm confused to see lots of error codes in AD when I open my Ai files in Chinese. It totally disturb my mood to finish my portfolio......plz add Chinese in soon.
  14. I would like to have the ability to type on a curved path and be able to make text designs like the one in the image I attached.
  15. It seems that when we select multiple separate text objects in Affinity Designer that the align tools, etc appear, and replace the ability to change the font settings for multiple selections. This is a huge deal, and incredibly annoying as I tend to bounce around between different fonts, and sizes during UI design projects. Normally I use Text Styles, but in the early phases I do select multiple text objects.
  16. Hi .. Is it possible to set a text to take path shape such as circle ? Regards
  17. How do you get text to take on the texture of a picture. Example I want my text to look like a Flag
  18. Can we have some "tabs" for setting text?
  19. When I select a text frame - generally that means I either want to move the frame or amend the text. When I move out of the frame - that should mean I'm finished working with the text/frame. I do NOT want to create yet another text frame by default!!!!. 9/10 I want to select it or something else on the page. The whole 'esc' -> V thing is very tiresome. Please give us a way to select the frame - either by clicking on the edge of the frame (tool becomes an arrow/select), by using a keystroke (cmd) or moving out of the frame automatically changes the tool to an arrow. 20. Hi there, I'm completely new to AD and I'm trying to distress some graphics. In photoshop I would have maybe created a layer mask but can't seem to find an equivalent. Is this the wrong way to go about it? Suggestions gratefully received. Thanks. Geoff
  21. Hi Affinity. I typically use Illustrator for annotating scientific figures made in Matlab (e.g.). When I import .ps and .eps files into AD, the text is not imported as text, but as curves. Is this a result of the way the .ps files are generated or something specific to AD? As a note, when I import these same files to other programs (Illustrator, Preview) the text is treated as words (Art Text in AD vernacular). Note the selected '0' within '5500'. I would expect the whole of '5500' to be a single element.
  22. Select all objects on a page - including text. Group. Drag to scale. Everything scales except text. Is this a bug or a setting option?
  23. This is my one deal breaker. I work in a large company that mainly uses Adobe Suite CC, which is unfortunate if I wanted to adopt Affinity Designer because I cannot share the EPS/PSD files I export from AD because the Dynamic text becomes outlined/flattened. I can however open Adobe files in AD and edit the text, with some quirks(a format issue for another topic). How can I preserve the edibility of my text so that third party users, such as clients or printers, can open and edit the original text using their software of choice? Whether that is Adobe or god forbid, Quark. *Note: I have found out that exporting as a SVG from AD and opening it in Illustrator CC retains the dynamic text, but breaks the text box into smaller art text pieces. Thank you,
  24. Is there an option to let text flow around an object like an imported image? I use this very much in Corel DRAW on my old windows machine, when I create flyers. It would be helpful to have this feature in Affinity too.
  25. Discovered Affinity today, didn't blink, bought it and glad i did. I've been playing for a few hours and there's something I can't get my head around. How do you fit a line of text to a curve or path.
