  1. Hi dev team

it is really time for Affinity being able to align selected path nodes

not only along the page edge but also along only the selected path nodes.

    This is what affinity does

it is somewhat stunning that this is not yet implemented!

Freehand in the 90s had this !!!

This is what is should do: align align align the selected nodes and not the paper edge only!

  2. Hello Affinity,

I am with the Affinity software since it got out - have it for Mac and iPad.

I am very exited to see the Publisher app to come out soon too but have some stomach pain here.

The main angle I see this is coming from Macromedia Freehand that unlike Adobe Illustrator / Indesign

offered  layout, masterpage, text tools (Indesign) and Illustration tools (Illustrator) in one application with

another major advantage: different paper formats.

So in stead of having different InDesign files you could have all in one design document.

I see Affinity stepping into the same highly frustrating and annoying limitations Adobe forces onto users.

Freehand got killed and typography and text frame tools where separated so nicely that you need to buy

    both Adobe apps.

I really hope that in the long run chaining text frames, master pages, etc will be accessible for Designer too

and not only be limited to Publisher.

  3. 2014 was the first time it mentioned that this is such a "must have" tool to have for paths.

Literally Affinity Designer cannot be productively be used for anything remotely like technical illustration where you need call outs etc.

So please this is now 2019 4 to 5 years later now!

Even Gravit Designer a web based app has super path end options !!!

  4. It seems publisher as a DTP app copies / embedded external images via the place command increasing the file size which obviously is not a good idea.

afdinity designer unlike illustrator already cannot link images.

what is the plan for publisher? That is somewhat besides master pages one of the most used / needed function when working on publications.

  5. Doesn't 'Edit > Copy' on the original object followed by 'Edit > Paste Style' on the new object already do this?

Yes and now - you make a copy of a style.

But sometimes You just want to copy something from an object rather - or then test a different object, or another one and and and

The copy paste in the style panel makes sense when well working with style you will add mainly.

The style eye dropper allows a different fast explorative workflow Affinity currently does not offer - another bummer.

  6. Just noticed as well that the vector erase tool is missing. I am stunned at two things.

    1. How fast and modern the Affinity products work. This is really refreshing and great.

    2. How many basic tools are missing yet more advanced things were included. This is really frustrating.

When I bought the package I was not even thinking about looking for an erase tool because I assumed

that it is simply a common core to have.

  7. any chance you have to many snapping options enabled?

works totally fine on my side, just tested in in the latest beta on Mac

    I have snap off

selecting some parts and rotating is impossible

selecting a single element and rotating is fine.

    Screencast: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byzv_NlyKp_2UmE5ZGxaNGp5Tk0/view

When grouping parts the rotation works nearly instantly.

    Screencast: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byzv_NlyKp_2SHBjYUJveDlRNjA/view

It seems Designer is not able to rotate the elements individually all at once and just crumbles.

  8. I opened this file in Affinity Designer and was surprised how slow the app is.

When trying to do a selection the mouse cursor just spins for seconds.

Moving or manipulating a path is impossible.

The only way to do something is to zoom in a lot - then the app is fast.

But I locked up Affinity few times needed to force quite it it.

This is a disaster for me right now as it does not allow me to work with some very basic floor plan designs.

Any idea why? Oddly enough normally Affinity is crazy fast - compared to AI.

  9. Sort of. DPI does not have much meaning unless you are printing out something (other than to define a default "actual size" for the document). The Affinity Photo - Understanding DPI video tutorial may help explain when DPI is important & when it is not.

DPI has a lot to do even when not printing but delivering PDF documents.

A low res vs a high res image in a PDF will show.

  10. Hi all,

I am new to AD and please have patience with me ... ;-)

I guess this post is not about CSS Shapes, right?

Is there a way in AD to create a non-rectangular, responsive CSS Shape I can export and use in a web page to let text float around or withing the shape?

So, some more visual way as to what is explained here https://sarasoueidan.com/blog/css-shapes/

Thanks a lot and kind regards, Igor

Lol I am out of web design since years and it is a joy to see that CSS can do custom text frames for text float now as well! Glorious!
