  1. It took me "a minute" to get used to the lack of a "parent layer" when I first started using Designer But as I discovered, it's rarely needed in my work. And If I do need a Layer layer, I can add it. But really Groups suffice for most of my organizational needs.
  2. I also had the thought to use a spiral as a text path, but couldn't get the text to flow the direction I wanted. Text would flow, but the necessary spacing adjustments to make the text lines align correctly would be very tedious and might not make it worth it
  3. A couple of ideas with pros and cons A series of concentric circles converted to text paths will have the most accurate curvature, though tedious to achieve. Each bit of text would be on its own path, so not behave like a flowing text block. A warp group would get the shape right and allow for normal text block behavior, but would distort the text.
  4. Hit the "link" button before changing a numbers and it will work to change all numbers.
  5. With no context, I asked my wife to rotate a piece of paper that was laid flat on the desk and she went clockwise. Afterward, she said it was because she's right handed and it felt more natural. Perhaps lefties feel differently?
  6. I think that is debatable. On files where I don't have large, complex renderings (perspective warp mesh etc), I can instantly jump into any field. The delay only happens on complex files. And it happens every time the preview has to change. e.g. I hit export and want a specific artboard to go out at a specific pixel dimension. I have to wait a couple of seconds before I can input anything. But wait, I'd rather export that other artboard! I choose that one from the "area" dropdown. Now I have to wait a few more seconds for that one to start rendering before I can change its dimensions. Again, not a deal breaking, but in my experience, the rendering of the preview does delay the process and I'd welcome the option to turn it off completely.
  7. Great question. I'm not sure it would come over well in a screen recording, so you'll just have to take my word for it. Again, I suspect it has to do with the level of complexity in my file and perhaps the processing power of the ole iMac. It's a minor inconvenience that I can deal with, but if a preview toggle button would catch the rendering process before it happened (similar to the option in my old CS6 InDesign), I would welcome such an option.
  8. But what if you want to adjust some things…e.g. I have a big render with perspective, warp, mesh, whatever. I want to export a thumbnail version for review, say at a max width of 1024px. At time of export, it takes several seconds before I can access the width field to manually input 1024 due to the export preview having to render. Could be my machine being slow, but it seems like a nice option to toggle off the export preview.
  9. I find it a nice visual confirmation of the page-range, artboard or selection area that I may be selectively exporting. But I certainly wish I could turn it off when desired.
  10. Maybe it's just me, but the jump in sizes between "small" and "medium" is too much. I'd love a size between those that also keeps the page label to the right instead of underneath
  11. Another workflow could be to use a 3rd party app to split the PDF after export. I use the free PDFsam Basic which has plenty of options.
  12. The glyph browser is open, yes. Down below my Character panel. But why would the tooltips be showing for no reason after selecting a file from the Open Recent menu?
  13. Ran into this issue today. Wonder where those mysterious ghost glyph tooltips came from? AD 2.5.7 + Sonoma 14.7.2 Screen Recording 2025-02-04 at 12.25.00 PM.mov
  14. But there could be instances where there are multiple images within a "frame" (picture frame, curve (as in your case), vector crop, etc). How would the Resource Manager know which to select?
  15. Could use a screen shot if we are to see what you are seeing.
  16. Looking at your video… I see all images do appear to be linked correctly. Most are JPGs, some are PSDs. I also see that the images that appear to not show up in the Resource Manager when clicked is because they are within a curve object. When you click on the curve, it does not jump to the image in the list, but I imagine when you double-click to select the actual image, it should jump. So, with all these images seemingly correctly linked, you can package everything up. And when you open the package, all the images should still be linked correctly, now pointing to the images in the package folder "images" instead of the original folder. Can you confirm that is what happens?
  17. This is the sticking point. Doing that action does not serve any function other than breaking the links. It will only cause problems. You should not do this. Without a step by step screen recording, I'm not sure I can offer any more insight. But I would be interested to see your Resource Manager BEFORE you package things up. Are all the links connecting to the correct images at that stage of the workflow? If not, fix them before packaging. If they are correct, you are right, the package should then collect all images and update their links in the resulting package file.
  18. This seems to be the issue. A sort of backwards workflow. The more common flow would be to replace/relink all the images within the document, THEN create a new package to gather all the resource together.
  19. To say it another way, Publisher is not linking to the folder and then finding the image files inside it. It links to the image files directly. Therefore merely swapping out files in the folder via the OS will not automatically make APub relink. That must be done manually within APub
  20. But what if the user really does want to cancel the whole export process? I have to click Cancel twice?
  21. I too am confused by this. I've made a number of diagrams/flow charts in Publisher with relative ease.
  22. But how do we know if what YOU want as default is the same as what OTHERS want as default? Or which state is "used most often"? I suppose it could make sense to have this setting be "sticky" or controlled by a preference somewhere.
