  1. Good thinking. I really wish they would allow Set Decoration Color: Text as a default option. I'm not a programmer but I would think this is an easy thing to implement.
  2. Currently, when I re-open an old project (or have 2 or more open projects) and export assets, the file path opens to the last location used by the application. That means I am constantly having to track down the folder that the document belongs in, to keep things organized. Is it possible to have Designer remember the Save To file path on a document basis, instead of as a global application basis? That would make things so much simpler and easier to work with.

  4. On Publisher 1.81 I'm happy to say that Column Break and Frame Break hotkeys now work properly! Thank you! Page Break hotkey still exhibits the same incorrect behavior—it produces a space, while selecting the option from the dropdown menu does work properly.
  5. Hi there, I purchased Designer and Photo through the App store, while I have Publisher through the Affinity store. Publisher and Designer have been updating just fine, but Photo does not—despite following these instructions. Affinity Photo is still stuck at 1.7.3 and it will not appear in the Updates section of the App store. Any ideas? I am on High Sierra 10.13.6
  6. I came to make a request for this. It's absolutely needed and extremely useful!! I have several documents that grow over time as new information gets added. For example one is a list of Wine Awards—when a new award comes in, I make a new page in the appropriate section and let the following pages shuffle down. Having the ability to define Custom Fields would allow me to set up inputs for repeating subheads (for a subgroup of awards all coming from the same competition for example). Hoping this makes it into APub 1.8
  7. I have bound hotkeys to Text > Insert > Line Break, Column Break, Frame Break, and Page Break. The only hotkey that works correctly is the default Line Break hotkey (Shift+Return). The others do not work as expected. Column Break (bound to Opt+Return) produces a Paragraph Break. Frame Break (bound to Opt+Enter) produces a Paragraph Break. Page Break (bound to Shift+Enter) produces a Space of some kind, however it doesn't show the blue dot that a normal space shows when you enable Show Special Characters. It has no symbol. Selecting each option from the mouse menu works as expected. Macintosh OS 10.13.6 APub 1.7.3
  8. Exactly. Some printers also request individual pages for some reason. We either need multipage support or AT LEAST the ability to independently change the size of facing pages
  9. + 100 for this! tried to manually increase the size of the right-hand page in a facing spread, but it increases the size of BOTH pages. I can't make a page with a fold-in tab without a frustrating workaround. I love Publisher and canceled Adobe (I've purchased everything Serif makes) in trust that some of these issues will be getting addressed.
  10. +1 to add this feature, I look for it every couple months
  11. This and a replacement for the transformation panel are two HUGE features that are needed constantly. Hoping Serif puts them on the priority list. And fixing the stroke expansion...
  12. Ah, so even when working on projects destined for print it may be a good idea to use "force pixel alignment"?
  13. If I make any two straight-edged object and align their straight sides, Designer still shows (and outputs) a small gap between them. I have a series of triangles with rectangles beneath them, making white pillars. Unless I overlap them, Designer outputs a faint grey line between the two objects, when I expect there to be no visible gap. Designer 1.7 Release Vitrector_Adornments.afdesign
  14. Bumping! Pleasing text composition is one cornerstone that sets professional typesetting apart.
  15. Not that I would recommend it for anyone else, but I took the leap and discontinued my Adobe subscription already. Using Publisher daily and it hasn't let me down yet!
  16. I'm sure this has been asked already but I figured I would give it a bump because it's so important. I have left Adobe behind for a bright Affinity future, but I sorely miss the Transformation Panel that Illustrator had—it's so much more useful than the current iteration of Power Duplicate because it allows the user to preview how the duplications look before locking them in. For generating symmetrical designs this is vital. Also missing the simple functionality to duplicate and ADD vs being limited to duplicate and MULTIPLY. For example if I want to make concentric circles that increase at 5pts diameter with every iteration, I have to do this manually because power duplicate progressively increases the diameter changes with every iteration.
  17. Very important feature, +1 for it to be implemented! There are many situations in which it is necessary to split part of a text frame into 2 columns, or to span a 2 column layout periodically with a single heading. Both are needed

  19. I often work on multi-page documents that require text blocks to reverse from black to white depending on the image underneath the text on that particular page. I may also employ subheads that use Paragraph Rules (a line beneath the subhead and the subsequent body copy). In InDesign, I would set up a Paragraph Style defining the text as Black, and make sure the Paragraph Rule is set to "Text Color". Then on the pages where I need to override that with White, I simply use a Character Style. When the text turns white due to the character style, the paragraph rule updates to white accordingly. In APub, I see that instead of Paragraph Rules we use Decorations. However there is no way I can see to set the Decoration to inherit the Text Color. This is forcing me to create two sets of Paragraph Styles just to control that single line. Is there a way to make a check box that tells APub to color the decoration according to the text color?
  20. I keep color swatch books for all my clients. Coming from Adobe, I can just create a swatch collection for each client and upload to Creative Cloud. Then when I need to work on something for that client I simply load their folder and have all my swatches ready to use. I thought I could do the same thing with Affinity's Palette system, but I am running into issues. In order for a Palette to be available to all Affinity programs, I have to make System Palettes. It works, except when it comes to saving Spot colors (I need a set of Pantone colors). When I try to save a Pantone swatch in the System palette, the swatch gets saved to a new Document palette instead. This does me no good because next time I start a new document, I have to go looking for all the swatches. Furthermore, I cannot make them Global. Am I missing something? Or will I have to create an Application palette each time and export that to import into the other 2 programs every time? That will get annoying if I have to update their color schemes down the road.
