Hardware Acceleration is v. 1.9.0.852
Vasto7 replied to Vasto7's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on Windows threads
Thank you @Djoule. It appears we don't have the same graphics card. I have an RX 5700 and you have an RX 570. Perhaps that is the reason for your success an my apparent lack of success. -

Thanks @Djoule. That is good to know. Can you post a shot of your Preferences? What is your Ram and CPU? Thanks again. -

My Preferences are shown in my original post. So no. I don't think I have a weird configuration. -

@Chris B and @emmrecs01 Thanks for the info. I'm a bit hesitant to update to the 20.11.1 driver just yet, particularly since you are having no issues with the 20.9.1 driver and it seems to be running well with all my other applications. What CPU are you running? I am running a Ryzen 3700x with 32 MB of 3200 MHz Ram. See full system info attached. -

The 20.9.1 driver is the "Recommended" driver. There is a newer driver (20.11.2) is still "Optional." As far as what slows down. I have not done an extensive survey, but have the following observations. Loading documents into both the Develop and Edit personas is slower. For example, loading the same 24 MB tif file took about 0.2 sec. for AP 1.8 and about 5 seconds for AP 1.9 (when accelerated). Moving between the Tabs (Layers, Adjustment, Effects, Styles) caused the program to not respond for about the 30 seconds. These issue do not occur when hardware acceleration is disabled. Thanks -
In the attached .afphoto file you will see color artifacts. The file has multiple layers. In the Group is a copy of the background file which has been inverted and a bilateral blur filter applied. This layer has a Vivid Light blend mode. The next layer in the group is a copy of the background file with a Normal blend mode. Finally the entire Group has an Overlay blend mode. By adjusting the bilateral blur filter different amounts of sharpening are achieved. This process works perfectly for an 8 Bit RGB image. However, for a 16 Bit image it shows the color artifacts. I believe the artifacts are an bug in Affinity. A work around is to covert the image to 8 Bit, adjust the bilateral blur filter to your liking, merge visible and then covert the merged layer to 16 Bit. Thanks for your hard work. Your Affinity 2020 wishlist
Vasto7 replied to AITCH's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
I also ran into the issue described in 3. when trying to follow the LockDown 2020 tutorial from Mr. Fernando Martins Ribeiro. He also graciously provided a macro to do the median blur frequency separation, but when I tried to run it, I had the same issue described by JoshMillsPhoto. I wonder if there is a work around. I could not fine one. -
Need Precision Curves Adjustment
Vasto7 replied to martinch's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Currently there seems to be a way to precisely place a note on the curve. If you add a node, you can move it to a known location such as x =0, y = 0. Pressing the right arrow key twice will move the node to x = 1, y = 0. Pressing the up arrow once will then move the node to x = 1, y = 1. The vertical grid lines are at x = 64, 128, 192, 255. The horizontal grid lines are at y = 64, 128, 192, 255. With this information you can put a node at any coordinate, although it is obviously tedious to count the key strokes. Nice that they are implementing a more direct method. Regards.- 7 replies

Similar problem when using the rotate button in the develop persona. Saturation comes back when any adjustment is made (exposure, etc.).

I create a document with shapes and test of various colors. When attempting to sample the colors with the color picker tool, the color picker color circle does not change to the color of the sample on the document or anything in the document window. Interestingly, it will change to the color of things not on the document. For example it will change to the color of the AP menus.

How to Extract Detail
Vasto7 replied to Pedro Soares's topic in Tutorials (Staff and Customer Created Tutorials)
Pedro, Thank you for posting the video and Macro. I was looking for a way to emulate the NIK Detail Extractor filter. I found one for PS and then came upon your for AP. Regards.- 11 replies
