  1. I'm not sure what's happening here but when I select these 4 items and nudge them using the arrow keys, these overlay measurements popup for a few seconds and the bottom one doesn't look right. I also zoomed in a bit and rotated it for a better view.
  2. When exporting to PDF, the "Include Bleed" setting is in the main window. Can you move it into the "More" section? That way, the bleed setting can be incorporated into an export preset. This saves an extra step when exporting as I have separate uses for PDF's with and without bleed. Many of the other export settings (crop marks etc) are found in "More" and to me they go hand-in-hand with bleed. Also, the export bleed setting should include an option to use a custom bleed setting, other than what the document is set to. If I need to include a larger bleed area, I would have to cancel out of the Export window and change the document setting first. Also there are times where I would want the bleed marks to be one thing but the actual export bleed area to be another.
  3. Any progress to report on this bug? I guess I'll have to convert to curves to send a PDF off for print.
  4. Hm? That required doing it manually. That is a workaround. The original post asked if it was a bug that the Import converts the table to tabbed text and the answer is no.
  5. Publisher can't do inline table at the moment. It's not a bug but a limitation.
  6. I'm a long-time Indesign user and in theory, Publisher's way of doing increments is better than InDesign because you can set different increments based on the unit of measurement. However, what I like about InDesign is you put in an exact amount, not a decimal place. So in InDesign the keyboard increment is 1pt and it's 1pt no matter if I'm in inches or centimetres or picas. There are benefits to both ways of doing it. Perhaps if Publisher added the option to set an exact amount instead of a decimal place, or in the case of picas retool it so it understands how picas are made up of 12 points. Really, I think the best way is to just make that setting do the increments by points instead of Picas.
  7. It doesn't seem to understand Picas correctly... there isn't a way to tell it to increment Picas by one point. If I change the decimal places of Picas to 2, then the increments are now p1.2 which is quite silly! I think the problem is that Picas doesn't really work in decimals.
  8. Issue 1 from my first post is still there. I hope it's at least on the list to be looked at. When working in Picas, clicking the up or down arrow in the Table panel increments the value in 1p increments which is way too huge an amount. But it works properly when you switch to inches... the increments are small .01 amounts.
  9. I see no change in behaviour. Screen Recording 2019-06-05 at 9.39.33 PM.mov
  10. The app is self contained so just move the app to the trash. Keep in mind that settings and anything you otherwise did to customize the beta app will not be in the public release in the App Store. For instance, if you created new custom brushes then you need to export them from the beta app then import them into the public release.
  11. I said ON LAUNCH the 30% off deal is better. There is no gift card deal at Costco right now. Even so, by my math, going to App Store / Gift Card route is almost the same as the beta tester deal... Canadian Price $69.99 - 20% = $55.99 - 15% gift card deal = $47.59. Doesn't matter anyway.
  12. Costco often has $100 (4x$25) gift cards for around $85! However with only a 20% discount on the app store I think the 30% through Serif is the better deal on launch.
  13. You're welcome! It's a little thing but it really helps. As of now, you're really limited on what you can use for style shortcuts.
  14. I like the splash screen but find it odd that it references the old icon.
  15. I waited to jump in and purchase both Designer and Photo until they were on the app store for 30% off in the past. Then I used iTunes gift cards that were at a discounted price as well, making it and even better price. Too bad I won't be able to do that this time, unless I wait again for the 30% discount on the app store which may or may not even happen.
  16. The fact that instead of inline graphics they did it differently with the "pinning" feature makes me think that for now they are going a different route. Hopefully down the road there will be actual inline images and tables. For my day job I'm often putting graphics inline with the text, and sometimes even a graphic in a table in a text frame. This can come in handy when doing complicated business forms. Then if you have to move things around, you know that everything is coming along for the ride.
  17. I agree that tables need to be able to flow with text, however looking at the original poster's menu, almost the exact same thing can be created using tabs instead of a table. I do menus all the time at work and almost always use tabs instead of tables.
  18. I figured as much. Doesn't stop Adobe from implementing it though.
  19. A simple but helpful thing that is missing in text handling: you should be able to double-click on a space or tab etc. and it will be selected. Publisher seems to be missing this, and possibly the other Affinity apps as well. It's something that's like a reflex action for me when editing text and it's bugging me that I can't do it with Publisher. This is a standard feature which is in every app I've tried on my Mac. Also there are some other text related things I feel like Publisher should have out of the box. I know you can add keyboard shortcuts for this, but since Publisher is being aimed at professionals, it should come by default with shortcuts for En Space and Em Space. By default, they have no shortcut in Publisher. These spaces are commonly used in typesetting. In InDesign the shortcuts are command-shift-M and N. Lastly, I don't see a way to add a keyboard shortcut to toggle typographic quotes. This is another feature that InDesign and QuarkXpress have. Since I'm a type freak, I want my inch marks not to be quote marks. Having that keyboard shortcut is a great way while typing to quickly turn the autocorrect off then back on again.
  20. Wow, I really opened up a deep discussion here. I didn't realize you could do multiple masters and I can't think of a time where I'd ever needed that. Mind you, maybe if I knew I could do it, I would find a reason to use it. However, there are times when you add in more functionality it makes things more complicated and you actually lose a little functionality in the process. Hopefully they can figure out a nice balance. I'm still using InDesign at work for design and pre-press, and Publisher obviously can't replace it, so I use Publisher at home for personal projects. Every time I start a new project I encounter many things that I simply can't find and have to search in these forums.
  21. Correct, it just seems to be a UI error since the leading is actually correct in my case.
  22. I would go by graphics apps, but I know what you mean. Actually, shift was the only way to multi-select in Finder until OS X as far as I remember so the shift key equaling ADD goes back from before the command key ever came into the picture.
  23. This would be fantastic. Since I'm fairly new to Affinity, I've actually been using the beta versions more than the non-beta so I'd love to take my settings with me. I would too and never understood why it's counter to what is basically the standard.
