  1. Actually I realized that I had been applying HSL filters to the objects - thus rasterizing on output. Thank you for verifying. I want to use Publisher for a project and this was holding me back.
  2. Perhaps I recall that the first beta worked almost like a Designer with pages, and the output was similar to Designer. But with the current beta the PDF export is entirely rasterized. Am I doing something wrong, but I don't think so because in the "more" settings on output I have the rasterize everything box unchecked. I really need fonts and vector objects to export as vector objects in the PDF format.
  3. I am exporting to PDF but everything is rasterized. Am I doing something wrong or how do I prevent vector objects and fonts from being vectorized?
  4. ROTK Publisher. I had a much further developed version that I created with the previous beta and it open and closed fine then. This time I started to develop the document from scratch in the new beta and I can't open it in the same beta it was created in.
  5. I don't want to post on this forum. Let me know if there is another way to send.
  6. The issue is not just with older Publisher files. Try re-opening a document created from scratch with the new beta.
  7. This happens even when you try to open a document saved with the current beta. Someone else mentioned that there might be a conflict with the Wacom drivers, so I deleted all of those and the problem still persists. It seems that the current beta is unusable unfortunately as I can't seem to do anything to reopen any Publisher document.
  8. I can't open up a document I created with the previous beta. This new beta crashes every single time with that document.
  9. Like many people, here I was very excited to see Publisher beta finally arrive. I had been creating multi-artboard documents with Affinity Designer and that was a pain but also joy. A pain because I didn't have the advantage of creating columns. I had to hand place the text and manually break up paragraphs. Also when I added new artboards (which were document pages) to the document I had to move the artboards around and fit in the new artboards between other artboards, and then check the order of the artboards on the layers panel. A joy because I could layout object like a designer and mask, create sophisticated gradients and blends that went well above a glorified word processing program. Still, why would anyone do things this way, you might ask? Having spent years with InDesign, I found blending layers with the right kind of effects, masks or graphical editing really limiting. And layers in InDesign - well let's not get into that. I would give up often and end up creating the whole image in Photoshop and then pasting the Photoshop file - which really slowed down InDesign sometimes to a crawl. Other times I just created multipage documents (with layer groups) in Photoshop because it gave me the desired graphical result even though it was a tremendous chore outputting each page at a time and then pasting the pages together with Acrobat. I mention all this because the ability to have a sophisticated design software with pages is something that I've dreamed about for a long time. So if it's Designer with Pages for now, I'll take it and with a smile. Columns and widow/orphan control - great. Real image and text boxes, awesome. Yes I realize that the Designer and Photo links are dead right now but I can edit the embedded Designer asset just by clicking on it, just like Designer. I spent some time converting an entire multi-artboard Designer document to Publisher - and not a single crash - other times there was a crash just starting the program. So it's still a bit buggy but surprisingly not on the big document once I got going. Yes I realize it's early days. No hyperlinks on text - would be nice sometime soon. Or, fixing the master page issue that was discussed above (but honestly just cut and paste layouts for now - not that big a deal comparatively). But as soon as this gets to be a solid 1.0 release then that's my main design tool. Thank you Serif. I'm a full blown Affinity fanboy and can't wait for the new features, and also with Designer (maybe mesh warp?????).
  10. Matt - thanks - now I don't have crashes when using certain fonts. So happy that was fixed!
  11. I have some squiggly lines and squiggly text issues. When I zoom in and out the text becomes slightly distorted, and some of the shapes distort as well - sort of like extremely low res hinting. Everything is vector, and fonts are vectors as well so it shouldn't be doing this. If I save my work and then open the document again everything is fine again for a while. I don't know if this has been reported before but I did notice it in Beta 1 as well, though it is not a problem in the MAS version. Wonder if anyone else has this issue. Will take a screen grab later.
  12. Also as much as I love these updates I was having issues with the character and paragraph buttons on the top of the menu - not with the MAS but only with beta 1.6.1. Additionally the assets panel wouldn't close. I reinstalled the beta and the same issues persisted, so I'm using the MAS version for now
  13. Hi Matt, a font or two keeps crashing Affinity Designer, this new beta as well as MAS 1.6 Mac. Note that I don't have many fonts activated - being smart about that. I restarted the app and this keeps crashing predictably - in the normal type text box, not the artistic type tool. This time the culprit font is the new Albert Einstein font by Harald Geisler. I tried this font in InDesign CC 2018 and I don't have that issue - so I guess until this gets figured out I will use that specific font in Indesign - such a shame as I like the live preview of all the stylistic sets, and this font has so many of these. There are others that also crash Designer but this is the latest one and I really like it.
  14. This thing is a Bugatti Veyron, so if you're telling me I can only drive 250 MPH, not 267 MPH, and it handles better around corners that way then I am quite OK with that. Please update a 1.6 video. I would like to promote that to my friends and on FB and elsewhere.
  15. This is not happening to me. Maybe reinstall everything and reboot.
  16. Entire Affinity Team - thank you for your hard work. Now enjoying the official MAS version of 1.6. Only question I have is whether to use OpenGL or Metal as I know there were some issues with Metal, and Matt and team spent some time updating OpenGL to match Metal. I'm on High Sierra.
  17. Big wishlist item for me - for future releases - to be able to hide system fonts. They are useful for my system but clutter my design work. Maybe a switch on/off or something - or maybe "hide this font" type of thing.
  18. Matt - the UI (dark mode) in this beta got darker - or is that my imagination? I like dark but this is really black. Must be my tired eyes!!
  19. Matt - you beat me to it. I was just going to say that this is a font overload issue. I think the upper limit before these errors happen is about 1000 fonts - nothing to do with disk errors. (I have many more than that). My iMac had the same exact problem. I disabled all on Extensis Suitcase and created project sets for the fonts I use per project. It now runs super fast but I'm losing the ability to test out fonts on the fly (I wish there was a plugin to auto activate fonts). But the MAS version doesn't have this issue. And it doesn't crash on the Typography styles panel like the beta does on a particular font.
  20. Metal compute acceleration on my MacBook Pro Retina (2016 - 4Gb GPU) seems slower than with that not checked. Anyone else's experience with this?
