  1. Und ich als altes Bleisatzkind habe gelernt, nie mehr als 3 verschiedene Schriftarten zu verwenden. And as an old lead typesetter child, I have learned never to use more than 3 different fonts.
  2. I also taught myself everything! I'm a semi-professional layman, so to speak.
  3. Oh, that is indeed a major obstacle with the amount of data that is generated nowadays.
  4. You could compress the files to .7z, .zip or .rar.
  5. Hi @Wrap up Web and welcome to the forums. Make sure that the GPU drivers and Windows are up-to-date. If this is the case, hold down the CTRL key while you start Affinity Designer A selection box for resetting various settings will now appear. In addition to the options already selected, check the Disable Hardware Acceleration box. Click on Clear.
  6. Hi @FHF and welcome to the forums. Make sure that the GPU drivers and Windows are up-to-date. If this is the case, hold down the CTRL key while you start the Publisher. A selection box for resetting various settings will now appear. In addition to the options already selected, check the Disable Hardware Acceleration box. Click on Clear.
  7. Why didn't you export the file to a pixel format? Not every user here has version 2.x to look at it! To me it looks a bit like a book cover for a 1980's textbook for designers, which is not a bad thing, simple is often more.
  8. There is no reason to belittle yourself. Nobody is an idiot! We all learn, and if things go well, we learn until our last breath.
  9. I also wish you all a happy Easter, despite and precisely because of all the excitement about the takeover.
  10. Open the Designer file in Publisher, use the Textframe Studio Panel to remove the fill. After that go to menu file and choose Edit in Designer.
  11. And that's exactly why Canva made a deal with Serif. With Serif's expertise, Canva also wants to win over professional designers. If you have little experience in an area, it's easiest to buy this experience rather than spend a lot of time developing it yourself.
  12. The reason is simple. The V1 was unlocked with a serial number, which was like an invitation to a free banquet for pirates. Online verification made it more difficult for pirates to use the software without a valid license.
  13. If Canva actually implements its 4-point plan as announced, the acquisition could be a win-win for everyone. I am thinking here of the users who would like to use the Affinity programs on Linux or on an Android tablet. And those who would like to work in a team on the same project. All this and much more could be realized through the merger. Canva may not have the best reputation, but they can ensure that their popularity increases with a smart approach. A smart approach would include offering stand-alone apps at a fair price so that people on low incomes can afford them too. Time will tell what will become of the award-winning software. Until then, it's a case of wait and see.
  14. There are no stupid questions! Version 1 and version 2 are installed in separate program directories and can therefore be used side by side. The biggest disadvantage here is that you have to install assets and brushes twice, as both versions access different base directories.
  15. Look at it from a positive point of view. Functions that are missing in the Affinity programs could now be developed faster! Sure, there will be changes, many positive, some negative. I sincerely hope that the Affinity programs will not come as a subscription model and that new functions will not be offered as "pay-to-win" options.
  16. Hi @FuryP and welcome to the forum. I suspect that there are still remnants of the AMD driver hanging in the system and interfering. Get the DisplayDriverUninstaller and uninstall both the AMD and INTEL drivers. Then get the latest driver for the Arc GPU from Intel. After reinstalling the Intel drivers, start Affinity Photo by holding down the CTRL key. The menu with reset options appears. Leave all selected menu items as they are and click on Clear. Download the installable version from DDU! https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4884 Intel display driver: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/docs/discrete-gpus/arc/software/drivers.html
  17. Hello @TBL and welcome to the forums. I don't think it's an error. How should the program know that you have slipped and not canceled the brush selection? In both cases, the program switches to the last brush used.
  18. The UI has changed, yes, but not so drastically that you have to get used to it. And if you didn't have V1 before, there's no need to ask which version you should use, as you can no longer buy V1.
  19. Hi @Alvaro64 and welcome to the forums. It's easy as you think. Make your selection. Switch to the move tool, than copy & paste. Which part of selecting and then pasting as a new layer does not work?
  20. Off Topic @Alfred Yes, everyone should do what they want. My motto is: "If you want to achieve a goal, find a solution!" And if his solution is that he wants to throw his money down Adobe's throat, then let him do so.
  21. The Affinity programs cannot read certain proprietary data in the Adopay file formats; Serif would have to license an API from Adobe for this. And that three times (APhoto, ADesigner, APublisher). This means three license fees per suite sold. Try to open your files in https://www.photopea.com And as far as your variable font problem is concerned, check whether the fonts are also available in the static version.
