Chintan got a reaction from Lonnienex in How can I join 2 photos in the simplest way?
    Hey guys,

I've been working on some time lapses for the last few weeks and I'm ready to create my videos

I have a lot of photos and I wanted to flip every photo to create a mirror copy - did that easily with batch photo processing in affinity photo

Now I want to take the original and the mirror and join them together - but I can't see how to do that

Can anyone help out? And if possible, a way to do it is as a batch process since I have over 600 pairs to join

    Thank you

Not if you mean a real (ink) pen, or the type of stylus that works with a graphics tablet. I can only use a finger or a capacitive stylus.

When you are thinking of purchasing additional equipment, instead of purchasing additional lenses, I would strongly recommend instead buying a dedicated flash (a flashgun aka speedlight flash). The built-in flash itself is contributing to images not appearing "soft," (the bright highlights directly on the subjects, the shadows behind the couple). Unlike the built-in which always illuminates straight on, you can bounce an external flash, which lights your subjects in a way that looks more like natural light. This specific lighting issue can be corrected somewhat digitally, but it is much easier to prevent. (I promise you, getting an external flash made more of a positive improvement to my photos than any lens ever has).

Most of the RAW photos I'm editing in develop persona don't need any further changes hence I just want to export them to JPEG

However, I have to separately develop them and then export them instead of having an option of straight to export to JPEG

Does an export direct to JPEG exist in develop persona? If not, can it be added?

    Thank you

    +1,
I most usually don't need that extra step either, since I do not manipulate most photos beyond the RAW adjustments. Sometimes I crop them, but I can do so later (and in a lossless way).
Actually in most other RAW processing software (Canon RAW, Nikon NX-D and RawTherapee) it does not exist - of course, and that's why I am used to getting a final JPG a the end.

    Hi Chintan,

We are aware of the issue with the White Balance and saving a preset, it's with the develops to look into further. Also the way the custom presets need to applied is something that's logged for them to look into.

    Hi,

I'm new to photo editing and to using affinity photo

Yesterday I started editing photos using the develope persona and I ran into a couple of issues

I have a batch of photos in the same scene with the same lighting conditions

So I thought of editing one photo and then applying all the edits to the rest of the photos - but that option of batch processing doesn't exist for the develope persona.

So I tried a suggestion from the forums -  to use presets

Now it took me some time to understand how to use presets - it's not self explanatory. You have to make your changes completely and then create a new preset for each category - he basic, lens correction, tone curves, detail categories

    Two issues I found were:

    1. White balance settings don't get saved to the preset - thus I have to change white balance again for each photo

    2. When I open a new RAW file, the previous preset (for example "outside preset") is selected but is not applied. I have to switch back to default preset and then select "outside" preset for it to effct the changes

Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I have the latest affinity photo version for windows

    Eh oh. Portrait Pro.

I find portraiture gets me into trouble too easily. I take what I think is a great photo that really shows the person's character. Then they get unhappy because it is not flattering enough.

At least landscapes don't answer back.

Chintan got a reaction from anon1 in Progress bars or indicator for edits and developing RAW
while I'm editing photos using develop persona, I sometimes don't know if the edit change I've done has been applied fully or is still being applied

For example, I change the noise reduction slider while I've zoomed into the picture, I wait and see no change so I try again and then the change becomes more than it should be since both changes have now been applied

If there was a progress bar or something to indicate that the chaange has been effected fully, then a least I can move on to the next edit knowing that up to that point it is satisfactory

We also could use a progress bar when the photo is being developed - sometimes I'm just waiting for minutes for the develope photo dialog box to disappear so that I can continue with exporting the image

Can these be included in the next update?

Have you tried 'Adjustment layer or Live Filter Layer' then choose from the roll-down's, there is a tutorial for this, I've watched but can't put my finger on it....

Also burn brush on a pixel layer, so you can delete and try again if the effects not what you wanted...

    Hi Chintan,
In Develop Persona there's a panel - Overlays - that lets you paint over an area of the image to limit the adjustments to that area. Juts click the Add Overlay Brush tool on the bottom of the panel or the Overlay Paint Tool in the toolbar on the left to define the area you want to affect. You can create as much overlays as you want/need. Check this video for more details: RAW: Overlays

In Photo Persona the same thing can be accomplished through an Adjustment Layer as @CircularWebs suggested. All Adjustments/Live Filters include a built-in mask that lets you limits the area affected by the adjustment/filter. Check this video for more details: Mask Layers.

I also wanted to tell you how excited i am not only about your fantastic two apps, but also the quality of the video-tutorials! They are simply perfect! It's hard to believe, that there finally is a company out there who cares about and listen to customers again! After using software from Adobe since 1993 you deliver what they never did (and even Macromedia did not). Simple videos, where even everybody can still learn a lot - well, and we can always learn something. Has anyone seen those crappy so called tutorials of Adobe? The videos from Serif made me watch one after the other! Please dear Affinity-team: keep up the fantastic work be it software or tutorials or whatever. Thank you for your hard work! Finally time to say goodbye to Adobe …  :)
