Transrobotism got a reaction from jrutled3 in Affinity Publisher & Digital Publications
    AFFINITY PUBLISHER & DIGITAL PUBLICATIONS

"Affinity Publisher will be crafted to help professional designers get the very best results on every layout, page, magazine, book, and digital publication, with stunning typography and vibrant colour."

I don't know if this is jumping the gun but... As a user of PagePlus, Quark Xpress, and InDesign I can tell you that PagePlus is up there when it comes to paper-based publishing. However, PagePlus has always fallen short in the area of digital publishing. The audio and video players embedded in PDF files looked really bad in comparison to InDesign produced PDF files with audio and video files embedded within. InDesign one is able to output to Flash (at least when I was using version 5 of the Adobe Suite). Sure, Flash is dead.

One of the attributes that I would like within Affinity Publisher would be to create beautiful, elegant looking PDF files with audio and video embedded. The

    HTML5
Another attribute would be to export to HTML5... Here I envisage web-like pages that can include PowerPointesque slideshows; magazine style web pages and so on. I would imagine that HTML5 could create and include some nice transitions between pages/slides.

    EPUB
Oh! Yes! When it came to EPublications, PagePlus was abysmal. I would want the EPUB capabilities to produce excellent and consistent results each and every time.

    MOBILE APPS & EXES
I would also like Affinity Publisher to produces APKs for Android and the equivalent for iOS apps. I would imagine that this can be achieved by using a combination of HTML5 and Java.

    NO WEBPLUS EQUIVALENT???
I think it was Alfred who stated that there will be no WebPlus equivalent in the Affinity range and that web page production will not be supported in the forthcoming Affinity Publisher. Is that correct? That would be a terrible shame as WebPlus is such a decent web design application. Affinity Publisher, in theory, could pick up the web design slack. I always appreciated that PagePlus could output pages to HTML. As you can tell from the above text that I am hoping that Affinity Publisher would feature HTML5 output.

I do think that web pages and web design are evolving into what I would call "Channels" whereby the web page is looking pretty much like a TV channel - especially now that video has become a major part of the web. I reckon that a "Channel" approach to web pages produced with Affinity Publisher may be the way to go.

Well, that's my 2 cents worth! Oh, did I say that I am very curious about Affinity Publisher?

The above text is a quote from Serif and the "digital publication" aspect of it has got me in stasis. Lol!   I would love to learn more about the digital publication aspect of the forthcoming Affinity Publisher! What does "digital publication" mean in the context of Affinity Publisher?

I so can't wait to be able to try the beta!  :)

I was beyond ecstatic to discover AP will open My PEF files and the RAW converter is a very good performer. Finally I can work with a real PEF RAW file instead of a wonnabee DNG. This is important to me as my Pentax 645D is no longer an orphan. Thanks Serif/Affinity Photo.

I signed up for the public beta, and was very impressed with the features and functionality. I do have issue that has nothing to do with 3rd party plugins, but with Affinity itself. Will post it appropriate forum.

I went through all of the video tutorials, my comments:
    - they are a great English language course :)
    - one should perhaps know a bit of LR and PS to take full advantage of them
    - but they are great!
    - the help online is good, but what is needed soon is a book!

THANKS for this new great product! Bye bye Adobe....

    TO AFFINITY AND BEYOND...

I have done it! I have joined the ranks of Affinity Photo users around the world! I bought my copy earlier today!

Do you know what this means? Yes, I can throw out all those PhotoShop based magazines that has been taking up too much space in my study!   YAY!  :D Space at last!

I can hardly wait to start using Affinity Photo! I am busy with preparing for the Winter Solstice at the moment! Hey, Serif! I haven't received my Designer Workbook yet... I guess it is due to the postal service at this time of year...   I hope it comes soon! I am watching my door like a hawk!

It feels great to be amongst the ranks of Affinity Photo & Designer owners/users. ^_^

    Power to Serif!

I am looking very much forward to Affinity Publisher as I am very interested in creating digital publications for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android platforms. Am I right to assume that Publisher will create web pages too?

Transrobotism reacted to Bri-Toon in Illustrator vs. DrawPlus vs. Designer vs. CorelDRAW
As a user who experimented a lot with vector graphics over the years, I find it might be helpful for others for me to share the differences between Illustrator, DrawPlus, Designer, and CorelDraw. A lot of you might be unfamiliar with one or more of the programs. There are things I like about each and things I do not like. Onur has decided to help out in giving me background to CorelDraw since that is one I am unfamiliar with.

I will explain why I prefer certain programs and why I don't prefer them with the features that I find most or partially helpful. Here are 26 I came up with.

    Hi there, Affinity Users!

I am new to Affinity products. A couple of weeks ago I purchased Affinity Designer and I am on my way to purchasing Photo. I am a PC person. I am waiting for my WorkBook to arrive. I can hardly wait to get stuck into Designer. I am also very excited about the Publisher app - I have a few questions regarding that.

I love being creative on the PC. I look forward to getting to know people here and sharing my work - when I get round to doing any!

    Best wishes!  :)
