  1. Thank you! That was an interesting read... 'No plans at the moment...' Oh, well...
  2. The new Spiral Shape Tool is great! I was wondering if we could benefit from a Concentric Circles Shape too! There is a similar function in InkScape, and, while I have figured out a methodology in Affinity Designer, I reckon it would be a good idea to be able to have a Concentric Circles Shape to begin with an alter... How would I alter it? Well, I should be able to select any circle and treat it like I would the Donut Shape, change the ends to be rounded, angular, pointed, etc. I'd change the rotation of each circle, and so on. What do you reckon?
  3. Yes! I know there are lens flare objects that one can use, but it is not the same as a proper lens flare that can be found in the old Photo Plus application. It would be great if one could add colour and other values to the lens flare. Please restore the Lens Flare functionality! Thank you!
  4. I was wondering if Affinity Photo could benefit from some AI features / functionality? What I am envisaging is an Image Generator, and Image Editor in terms of background removal, replacing backgrounds, skies, etc. Oh! Perhaps upscaling too! I have been playing around with various AI Image Generators, and I am blown away by what can be achieved. What do you think about this idea? I think it would bring Affinity Photo (especially) in line with Photoshop. Perhaps the Affinity Website could feature an AI text to image generator - it could bring more custom for the Affinity range of products.
  5. Oh! Okay... Quit being so dramatic. Give Serif Customer Service a call or contact a representative here, tell this person what you have experienced and see if something can be done. All the best! 😇
  6. I am sure that Serif didn't mean for anyone to be hard done by. I would imagine it was an oversight, and that Serif has learned from it and, I hope, they will put something in place to avoid others experiencing the same issue. Still, that said, that's no reason to abandon Serif and its Affinity range, right!? Surely, you are not going to go back to Adobe? What else is out there that can really produce professional results? Had that be me, I would have called Serif sales and had a kind word with representative to cut a deal. You hitting out like you've been beaten within an inch of your life is a bit dramatic, wouldn't you say?
  7. NO SENSE Guys! I am not here to cause issues or to get into fights with anyone... But this quote above is typical of someone that does not know how applications are developed. Doesn't understand the extreme value in the V2 applications with a Universal Licence Upgrade option! You cannot get any fairer than that! I don't know if Serif made it clear that an upgrade to a new version was going to cost... To me, this is common sense that Serif would have to charge - albeit a relatively small one when taking the Universal Licence into account. Again, other small application developers have adopted a similar sales model. I must admit, I did not understand this model when I bought a Digital Audio Workstation called REAPER! When a new version came out, I was like, "What? I have to pay for a new version?" But I get it now... I felt embarrassed because I didn't understand that sales model. Now that I do, I will keep supporting the people behind REAPER, and Serif! Once again, I have dashed Adobe applications because of Affinity! I do not want a subscription model! I will pay for V3, V4, etc. I am truly baffled that the person quoted above does not understand and appreciate how applications are developed - especially by a small team! 😲 If we want Affinity Photo do adopt AI, we have to continue to support Serif! Once again, I have ditched Adobe for Serif Affinity! I even used to use pirated Adobe software - especially Illustrator. Now, those days are over! Many small software developers have done wonders for respective industries, e.g. Black Magic and its DaVinci Resolve professional video editing application that has caused many to ditch Adobe Premiere. Then there's the aforementioned Cockos REAPER, which has toppled Music Industry staples like Cubase, Ableton Live, and ProTools. Look! If you want quality professional industry standard applications, we have to be prepared to support smaller application developers. It's not rocket science! Thank you! 😇
  8. Hi Serif Affinity Developers! Thanks for V2! When it comes to "Something Big Is Coming" teasers, my mind is going to conjure up all sorts! I really thought that we were getting Affinity Web Designer. Why? I used WebPlus a great deal - even after development came to an end when it did. I still enjoy creating websites, and I was rather hoping that I could use Affinity Publisher in conjunction with (my fantasy Affinity iMedia) to produce interactive Digital Publications in the form of HTML 5 executables (exe), PDFs with custom audio and video controls, or even something new... Why not? Serif could create a new standard in Digital Publications - like PDF - to great effect! I am envisioning PowerPoint-like Multimedia presentations to revolutionize Digital Publishing! Affinity Web Designer or iMedia (as I call it) can act as a plugin - of sorts - to Publisher for Digital Publications - including websites! AffiMedia.exe? It kinda works... The 'i' stands for 'interactive'. Obviously, we did not get this Affinity Web Designer (iMedia) application... It turned out that this "one more thing" was Affinity Publisher for the iPad. Cool. Despite that little bit of disappointment, I made my purchase on the same day as V2 was announced! That's right... I stated it again, because I am so proud and thankful! WHAT I AM ENVISIONING Let's say I wanted to create an HTML5 based animation that I could export to other Website applications such as WiX, Squarespace, etc, basically any Web based application that allows for custom code, and, of course, any desktop based application. The animation would not look too dissimilar to Adobe Flash with its Timeline and Keyframe attribute. The interface would look similar to a modern Video Editing application. Here, I can drag / import objects to be animated via HTML5. I can also use video objects, trigger audio to play at a certain point - as well as having an audio player, and I can basically make objects appear and disappear at a keypoint in the animation. Again, I can export the resulting animation to be used in the proprietary Affinity iMedia application for inclusion in a webdesign project. The animation can look like what you would see if it had been done in Flash, or it can look like a PowerPoint-style presentation. There's also an option to export as an executable that can be burned to an optical disc, or on a USB stick, and as a video. As a video, one could make intros for YouTube videos. If you launched Affinity Publisher, there would be options to create Interactive Digital Publications when Affinity iMedia is installed. You'd have preset configurations for screen sizes. However, I wouldn't want to create a proper website with more than 5 pages... Sure, if I launched Affinity Publisher, I could have the option to create a Landing Page. Something simple. So, when you want to create larger sites, you launch Affinity iMedia. One could write text for the said website in Affinity Publisher and import the text files... Going back to Digital Publications... Imagine Digital Magazines - complete with page turning animation via HTML5 routines... WOW! I reckon Affinity iMedia can work! How difficult would it be to create a WiX-like interface to make website creation very simple? Oh! I would like to be able to use a database with Affinity iMedia so that I can create things like an ecommerce shop and be notified if stock is low, needs to be replenished, etc. What do you guys reckon? I would love to be a part of the Development Team on Affinity iMedia! Thanks for the consideration! 🙂
  9. V2: A MARVEL Hi Affinity Friends, I hope all is well! I just would like to say something about the following... To Anyone feeling aggrieved about having to pay for an upgrade to V2... Guys!? You have to realize that the application landscape has changed over the years. What we have been witnessing - if some of us have been paying attention - is that there has been a change of business model in terms of pricing to users of various applications - including Serif's amazing Affinity range. As we all know, Adobe went to a Subscription Model, which works fine for those who are able to make a considerable living in Graphic & Multimedia Design. For those who aren't able to justify taking out a costly subscription, Serif has always been there for us. ALWAYS!!! Okay... Since they arrived on the scene (about some 30 years ago) with their Plus applications (Photo, Page, Web, and Design). Still, I, for one, am grateful for Serif applications! I went as far as Photoshop 7, and when Affinity Photo was released, I uninstalled Photoshop 7, and have not looked back. Any of you do music? Well, for your information, there has been a shake up in the Computer Music Industry as well as the Graphic & Multimedia Industry... Like Serif, a small collective by the name of Cockus - a little weird, I know - have taken hold of the Computer Music Industry with an amazing new DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), REAPER! Now, it has a fantastic price to the user model: $60 for a non professional license - if you are not making loads of money from your music. Then there is a professional licence that is $225. This is superb - especially when taking into account the costs of other DAWs! Of course, you have to renew the licence when a new version is released. That is still better than a lot of other DAWs! So, we shouldn't complain that we have to renew our licences for V2 of the Affinity range! It's the only way that a small sized company can continue to make waves - producing great, great applications! As soon as Affinity V2 came out, I made my purchase the same day! The upgrade value was / is so very generous! I am at a loss to understand why people feel that they've been let down for having to pay for a new version. I prefer this sales model to the subscription model. I feel so very proud to have made my purchase on the same day of release! I am proud to support Serif. C'mon... The Universal Licence is a freaking steal! If you don't want to upgrade, then it is likely you can carry on using V1 applications. I don't understand why you are unable to see how Serif has given us - not only superlative applications that have at last garnered recognition from the Creative IT industries - but a bonkers upgrade opportunity! It's a no brainer! NOT QUITE WHAT I WAS EXPECTING? Look! When it comes to Creative IT applications, and "Something Big Is Coming" teasers, my mind is going to conjure up all sorts! I really thought that we were getting Affinity Web Designer. Why? I still enjoy creating websites, and I was rather hoping that I could use Affinity Publisher in conjunction with (my fantasy Affinity Web Designer) to produce interactive Digital Publications in the form of HTML 5 executables (exe), PDFs with custom audio and video controls, or even something new... Despite that little bit of disappointment, I made my purchase on the same day as V2 was announced! That's right... I stated it again, because I am so proud and thankful! CONCLUSION For those who still feel bitter about having to pay a small fee for Affinity V2, you really need to do your research, and understand how application development works! Thank you! 😇 LOVE! SHOW SOME!
  10. Hmmmm... Well, if people can draw fonts in Affinity Designer then there is scope for the Serif Affinity team to create a Font Creator for the PC and MAC. I wonder what the programmers of Affinity Designer have to say on this... Hmmm...
  11. I received my copy a couple of weeks ago and it is wonderful! More so to learn that it was put together using PagePlus! I was wondering if there is such a book coming for Affinity Photo, is there? Congratulations! :)
  12. Hi there, Affinity Friends & Serif! I was wondering if there is a way to create fonts with Affinity Designer? If this feature isn't there could there be a Font Designer plugin at some point? That'd be great! Thank you! :D
  13. NO DESIGNER WORKBOOK! Dear Serif, Seasonal Greetings! I thought that by now I would have received my Designer Workbook already. I think it must have been two weeks since I have ordered it and about another week when I got an email to say that my Designer Workbook has been despatched. Shouldn't I have it by now? Best wishes, Transrobotism
  14. I think that Serif has worked enormously hard on Designer & Photo - those applications are great! People in the design world are praising those apps from Serif! You read and hear terms such as, "Photoshop Killer," "Easier and more powerful than Illustrator," and so on. So, there is a tremendous amount of pressure for Serif to get Affinity Publisher right from the first release. That is not going to be easy! Quark & InDesign are powerful apps and Serif have its work cut out. I predict that a beta will be ready for March 2017 and a possible release would be August 2017. I guess I am a little optimistic! :D :P
  15. I am sure that Serif will come through on the DTP front. This is a great time for Serif to produce yet another revolutionary application. This is going to be Serif's era and it is about time too!
  16. I think that Affinity Publisher has to surpass InDesign like Affinity Photo has surpassed Photoshop and like Designer has blown Illustrator out of the water! EPUB; HTML5 and, at least, Android apps should be included. I would imagine that it is pretty easy to use HTML5 for iOS as I do believe that there is a stringent process to get apps on the Apple App Store.
  17. AFFINITY PUBLISHER & DIGITAL PUBLICATIONS "Affinity Publisher will be crafted to help professional designers get the very best results on every layout, page, magazine, book, and digital publication, with stunning typography and vibrant colour." I don't know if this is jumping the gun but... As a user of PagePlus, Quark Xpress, and InDesign I can tell you that PagePlus is up there when it comes to paper-based publishing. However, PagePlus has always fallen short in the area of digital publishing. The audio and video players embedded in PDF files looked really bad in comparison to InDesign produced PDF files with audio and video files embedded within. InDesign one is able to output to Flash (at least when I was using version 5 of the Adobe Suite). Sure, Flash is dead. One of the attributes that I would like within Affinity Publisher would be to create beautiful, elegant looking PDF files with audio and video embedded. The HTML5 Another attribute would be to export to HTML5... Here I envisage web-like pages that can include PowerPointesque slideshows; magazine style web pages and so on. I would imagine that HTML5 could create and include some nice transitions between pages/slides. EPUB Oh! Yes! When it came to EPublications, PagePlus was abysmal. I would want the EPUB capabilities to produce excellent and consistent results each and every time. MOBILE APPS & EXES I would also like Affinity Publisher to produces APKs for Android and the equivalent for iOS apps. I would imagine that this can be achieved by using a combination of HTML5 and Java. NO WEBPLUS EQUIVALENT??? I think it was Alfred who stated that there will be no WebPlus equivalent in the Affinity range and that web page production will not be supported in the forthcoming Affinity Publisher. Is that correct? That would be a terrible shame as WebPlus is such a decent web design application. Affinity Publisher, in theory, could pick up the web design slack. I always appreciated that PagePlus could output pages to HTML. As you can tell from the above text that I am hoping that Affinity Publisher would feature HTML5 output. I do think that web pages and web design are evolving into what I would call "Channels" whereby the web page is looking pretty much like a TV channel - especially now that video has become a major part of the web. I reckon that a "Channel" approach to web pages produced with Affinity Publisher may be the way to go. Well, that's my 2 cents worth! Oh, did I say that I am very curious about Affinity Publisher?
  18. AFFINITY PUBLISHER & DIGITAL PUBLICATIONS "Affinity Publisher will be crafted to help professional designers get the very best results on every layout, page, magazine, book, and digital publication, with stunning typography and vibrant colour." The above text is a quote from Serif and the "digital publication" aspect of it has got me in stasis. Lol! I would love to learn more about the digital publication aspect of the forthcoming Affinity Publisher! What does "digital publication" mean in the context of Affinity Publisher? I so can't wait to be able to try the beta! :)
  19. Well, InDesign is not just brilliant at publishing paper based products but digital ones too! It could output to Flash thus creating a digital magazine with ease. I am sure that this can be achieved with HTML5 these days as Flash is dead. And when it comes to incorporating audio and video content within a PDF, InDesign is unbeatable! PagePlus came so very close but it lacked finesse; the video player looked awful in a PagePlus PDF. I have high hopes for Affinity Publisher to take up the baton of Digital Publishing! PagePlus matched Quark Xpress & InDesign for paper-based publications but fell short where Digital Publishing is concerned. Come on, Serif! You can do it! :) ;)
