  1. I think this will be very usefull for those who have Vulcan Machines with the latest firmware where the machine read the printed QR code and search for the respective cut file in a folder. I will test it and give feedback later. Thanks

Edit: Yes the machine read and recognize the QR Code and cut the file correctly. Nice addition to me. Before i have to jump between Affinity and Corel to do that.

  2. Another year and date where these come in handy and wow, 913 downloads! I really need to keep the promise I made last year and make some more.

Thank you all of you who have downloaded them, really hope you are enjoying them and most of all that they are helping you in some way.

    Happy Valentines

@dcarvalho84 as the Serif Info Bot suggests, we believe we have successfully fixed this issue. We can see a clear difference between the previous betas that this was reported against and the internal 2165 build.

I am really hoping that it has greatly improved for you as well. Again, thanks for your patience.

Hi @Chris B can't wait to try. Will of course let you know if it is ok for me or not. Glad to help.

Edit: I've done a quick test with 2165 and it seems fine now with my problematic file. :D Thank you.

    Thanks for the video @dcarvalho84

Would you mind sharing that file (or a similar one) with the developers?

I've made a private dropbox for them to access the file if you're happy to upload it here:

    https://www.dropbox.com/request/DGVkrVhFD4dUARpcQY4i

Nobody outside of the Development team would be able to access this and the file(s) will be removed once we have investigated.

I've had done that previously but i've uploaded it again.

    Thanks

  5. Just add a follow up.

Uninstalled all betas and all related files, installed them again, ctrl+open and reseted everything, uninstalled everything from the affinity store, reopen the app with all fresh untouched settings and the same problem is there. So i'm done with testing. Really hope you guys can find where the problem is, the only thing i think it's strange is why the retail work well and the betas don't.

  6. So, @Chris B today i've done some more tests trying to find out what's going on. The first was simply turn my laptop on, without anything attached, no external monitor, no mouse, no wacom, the laptop itself and the same happened. So i think it's not additional hardware related.

Regarding the slow performance i'm talking about just compare what you see in the video, in the first half the Beta 2 on High Quality, and the second the Retail in Automatic Best. For what i do i can't work with the settings in the beta 2, sorry. I've forgot to mention, the design is built with lot of things so i know it will slow down the preview as shown in the retail, but we are talking about a document with 500x1000 pixels, so a small file, this is just one example. So what i will do now is completely remove all the betas, and will reinstall them to see if i can make it work better. But overall, for the first time i'm not excited to use betas and i've had a lot of headache with some bugs before, but this one is making me almost quit, and again, i will not update when it turns retail if things for me remain the same. Sorry. We are talking about an M1 Machine... It's really strange.

  7. @Chris B I know that the fix isn't listed in today beta, but just to confirm that it is hapenning too in 2139, one thing i've noticed when i have used the apps with the retina rendering with high, even with smaller docs, the overall performance of the app is too slow compared to what i'm used to. Don't know if it was expected because of that setting, but i'm now only using retail. ( @MattP know how much i love using beta apps even for daily work 😂 )

    Hi @dcarvalho84 and @Chris B,

I believe the problem is caused by the Retina Rendering setting and only seems to affect the Beta versions, the 2.2.1 Retail version is fine (for me at least)...

    Quality.png.c3cf7b4a4bd41c5b66eae653e22f7f13.png

When Retina Rendering is set to Automatic (Best) I see bad flickering, when set to either Low Quality (Fastest) or High Quality (Slowest) I see zero flickering.

@dcarvalho84, perhaps you could give both those settings a quick test (which will require you to reboot Publisher) to see whether changing the Retina Rendering setting stops the flickering for you as well...

@Hangman Nice catch! It is indeed! @Chris B using what Hangman said solve the problem, so the problem for us is related with the retina rendering, if i switch to low quality, or high quality i don't have any issue with the file from the video.

How much memory does your Mac Air have? I wonder if perhaps this is a memory issue. Try reducing the RAM Usage Limit to 12288 MB if you only have 16GB. If you have more than 16GB, still give it a go and see what happens.

Other than that, your settings match my own.

@Chris B Mine have 16GB and i didn't touch that settings, but i will try with that value and will let you know if it's better, worse or the same.

    Thanks for the upload.

I've been trying to reproduce this for quite some time on my MacBook Air M1 2020 with Sonoma 14.1.1 and I just cannot get it.

I've tried all the different combinations of rendering in the Settings menu as well as closing the MacBook and using an external display. If you make a copy of the file, group all the layers and rasterise them, does it still happen?

If not, can you quickly try changing the font and see if it happens? We had to download a copy of it from Google but we still got the ? indicating something was missing. Only when we picked Regular from the list it resembled what we see in your recording. So I'm not sure if the font has anything to do with this or not.

Oh and for reference, we tried on an Intel 202 iMac as well as my Air.

@Chris B I can test that, but today i've had this too with Designer and the font was completely different, doesn't seem to be font related.

@Hangman Exactly, that is the same. What OS version do you have? Now i'm with 14.2 beta

@dcarvalho84 do you have Hardware Acceleration enabled in Settings? If not, enable it. To me, this looks like there is a bit of a delay in our rendering tiles which is why you are seeing blocks. Instead of rendering the entire screen at once, we do it in blocks for efficiency.

I have an M1 MacBook Air so if you have a file you can share, I'll see if I can reproduce it.

@Chris B Yes, i have hardware acceleration checked. I can send you the file, but since it's a client work file i would like to send it to you more privately.
