seems like that but feels harder than the way I have shown above for indesign.

Anyway I didn't had time to test the above mentioned method yet from Dave Harris but if you have anything to add on how to do things like this in publisher you are more than welcome!

  2. 6-9% cpu from publisher and 6-9% activity from usermod font driver host, avast showed some activity at 2-3% meanwhile but stopped while the behavior persisted.

Once I pressed ctrl everything fallen down to 0-1% activity and publisher started acting like normal.

I have like 2500 fonts active so I tried again with them off and restarting publisher (not the system, only publisher). (edit I have a font manager so I just turned the extra fonts off)

Well now this activity isn't there but publisher still act the same way so I'm not sure I can blame the many fonts I have.

I have to notice that I didn't see any other usage, disk activity was like 0.1% for 2-3 times for a very short period of time and ram was more or less stable, didn't seem to add or remove any meaning full amount of ram.

  3. I open file -> ctrl+E for extract -> pdf for print and saving.

After the extraction is done try to right click on page from the list, from there on everything act weird, try to click edit menu for example.

With the newer version it seems that this behavior goes away after a couple of minutes. Maybe it is just my system slower and the program still handle other operations that "chock" it?

I guess in a more modern system than mine the impact from something like this could be close to non existent.

  4. Hello, shouldn't the master page apply any changes to the rest of the document that I have previously applied it?

I have this document with 50 pages and applied the master on them on creation, but after I changed the master page I had to go and left click on a random page-> apply master to all

Isn't linked the whole time? Sound like a pain if you have a multi masters document if you have to go find each one of the pages the master is applied to change it.

Why do you convert the text into curves? Leave it as text. Is an ICC profile embedded? If yes, do you need it?

But you are right. Importing PDF into Publisher increased the size of the PDF. In the process of importing the PDF a few lines will be added of course. I made my own few tests. Settings kept identical as possible.

    50-pages-PDF from Indesign = 37.959 Bytes

Imported PDF and exported from Publisher = 251.981 bytes

50 pages from scratch in Publisher and exported = 168.013 bytes

I got problems with the text not showing correctly in publisher and then having the same problem in the exported pdf. It is Greek text so maybe because of this but anyway, it didn't work so I had no other way.

Maybe I will remake those pdfs in publisher, after all it have more design options than indesign and it will be easier. (indesign not having many design options was the reason I started making them in illustrator in the first place).

Thanks I will have a look

  6. Hello I used publisher to do a very simple job, to add numbering in a pre-designed invoice pdf so I can print them.

The imported pdf is saved from adobe illustrator with text as curves and it only have vectors in it. I import it as link and export it with "nothing to be rasterized" from publisher.

The new file is 50 pages of basically the same page with page numbering, black vectors only (opened in designer and illustrator to make sure) but the file size is close to 10mb while a similar pdf saved from indesign is like 200-300kb (which make sense given the vector nature of the contents).

What is going on here? Is it possible to reduce the file size? I know we are in an age that 10mb is not a big deal but I tend to keep my file in the cloud and my space there is limited.

  7. Hello reporting in for beta, I just installed 1.7.0.257 today and I did a very simple work on publisher. That is open a pre-designed pdf file to make printed invoices with page numbering for 50 pages.

After exporting to pdf the user interface started to behave weird, the first thing I tried was to right click on page 1 to change the numbering start to get the next batch and it froze there. The rest of the UI seemed frozen too except "File" menu, but even this didn't accepted any clicks. In task manager the program was not busy with anything but it was not reported crashed neither.

I haven't saved (not a big deal of a work anyway) so I tried the keyboard shortcuts and it opened the save window and the program started responding again.

I replicated this after the next batch was exported.

I haven't restarted after installation, I'm not sure if this is related but I will try to replicate this after a reboot.

The system is as described in my signature, windows 10 Version    10.0.17134 Build 17134

    Keep up the good work!

edit: Just replicated the problem after restarting to make sure it was not because of the new installation.

  8. I don't know, it is not like the install was interrupted, publisher works fine and it was not some crash, it had initiated a proper restart sequence.

Maybe it had a count down timer that I missed because I was focused on another task?

At first I though that maybe windows update gone rogue but there was no updates pending neither any update screen in reboot.

Anyway I just report it, I'm not fully aware of what happened because it happened so fast and I had my mind on what I haven't saved at the moment than to see what is going on.

I will give it a try again today to reinstall on top of the current installation again to check the behavior.

edit, ok so I uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing happened. Maybe some bug with update from the previous version? I don't recall which one I had but I haven't updated for a couple of months so I probably skipped an update or two.

  9. Hello I just downloaded the latest version of publisher and started the installation. As I often do I let installations do their thing on the background and I do other things, but while I was working on something else the installation finished and suddenly I got a "restarting" windows 10 screen!

What I lost is minimal but shouldn't there be a warning or something? I didn't even got a "setup finished please restart" or "system restart is required". It just restarted.
