  1. Hi, OK, I give up. I've created various master layouts and added placeholder items to them (e.g. on the master page "Section title" there is a textbox formatted with the preferred text style, and the text itself says #SECTION TITLE – which I would like to change to the real title). Right now I would like to click into that box and make it unique – how do I do that? (InDesign handles this with Cmd+Shift+Click into the text frame.) I hope I made myself clear. Many thanks for the help!
  2. Hi, A not so crucial bug, but a bit annoying: 1. Go to File/Place. 2. Choose something from Finder that you want to preview. 3. Press space to enlarge. 4. Press space again – the document will remain enlarged, won't go back. Thanks!
  3. If you searchv for something (e.g. “master”), it is going to load. At least for me it did.
  4. We will have deep integration with our other apps (check out the persona buttons!) However, we need to push an update to Photo and Designer before this works - we’ll let you know when. Ok, my bad. I should try to read first...
  5. Photo and Vector Personas are not available: Is there a Beta for Photo/Designer 1.7, or any updates planned soon to make it work?
  6. Basically everyone is right in this thread. What should've been acknowledged though is the underrepresentation of "technical drawing" related features (like being able to import the most common formats, or the "select similar", etc.) compared to "artistic drawing" (brush stabilization, symbols, etc.). That's what @cpotsch was trying to explain in a very kind manner. When you are dealing with such files (containing tens or hundreds of thousands of elements), the time spent getting to a level where you can edit them with the existing feature set is critical. E.g. I want to select all the cut/hidden/visible lines in a technical drawing: can be a time consuming manual task lasting for a day, or three clicks. I am in the user base that have purchased AD out of curiosity (I am using APhoto basically every day though), but it's merely suitable for production due to the above expressed reasons, which is a shame. I respect the decisions of Serif, and a poll wouldn't suite as proper preparations on what to implement, but such macro-scale decisions could've been expressed more clearly – as I am pretty sure they monitored which directions are worth exploring first. Which is harder to grasp though is the lack of clear roadmaps: https://trello.com/b/dgI8vjDb/corona-road-map-cinema-4d (example of a very clear one).
  7. Hi, If I enable ,,Touch for gestures only" under Preferences/Tools, I can still move, place shapes/fills/etc, it only disables the pen tool and the pencil. Is this intentional? If so, please make it consistent with Affinity Photo - this option works there as expected. Thanks! Balázs
  8. still a bit to wait for, but looks quite promising!
  9. That's not necessarily the case. Render Legion demonstrated this, when they offered alpha versions of Corona Renderer first for 3ds Max, then Cinema 4D. They stated all the things above, and that was true: crashes and bugs were all around, but look at the Gallery, what people created with even the alpha - I'm pretty sure it helped the development to be faster and made it possible to adapt to user needs. It helped to form a very friendly and helpful community as well, which is awesome, and ties the users even closer: knowing they can rely not only on the official support, but the community knowledge too. I get your side, that you don't want to release half-baked products, which crashes every 5 minutes, or makes files corrupt, but the constant postponing of release (,,it will be out when ready") makes people disappointed and just a look at how you imagine the UI, basic workflow, etc. (which features are "kind of" working), would ease us. Knowing that when ready, it will be an easy switch already. Early adopters (alpha-beta testers) will be able to jump on day 1, without hesitation, because they are familiar - with the limits as well, of course. I think the latter aspect is more important: get to know the software and help decide, which features are awesome, which needs further thought or which ones are the most requested ones - not speaking about the wide range of different uses on different hardware, which can lead to a ton of useful crash data. So yes, I'm not a developer, just some random guy who had a very good experience with another perspective of software development.
  10. Hi, It will be a bit long, since I have to touch other, very closely related issues as well. Rhino to Affinity Designer: So I'm a bit lost, at first a seemingly easy excercise: how do I get linework from Rhino/RhinoWIP to Affinity Designer without using a 3rd software? The exported .ai/.eps files won't be read, and .dwg is still out of league. Relevant McNeel Discourse threads: https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/what-export-option-to-use-to-get-rhino-into-affinity-designer/38872/6 https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/exporting-in-eps-ai-format/37015/8 https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/reading-exported-ai-files-in-vector-editors-other-than-illustrator/18092 I've tried the vector PDF as described, but it is extremely messy, not usable. I have no idea, why the curves are joined into one curve: I have to explode them, then I tried joining them like described here, but no success, they remain detached. Here are my questions: Can we expect extended .ai or .eps compatibility, or even better, support for .dwg files? In the meantime, what do you suggest to send linework from Rhino to Designer? Two very closely related topics: 1. DWG/DXF exchange between CAD software and Affinity Designer This is a thread asking for DWG/DXF support, which if I recall, did not happen since then: Please consider increasing attention on this matter, as the latest official reply was from @MEB, over 2,5 years ago. This is a very important feature for many designers (myself is an architect), since most of the time our drawings are not generated in Designer/Illustrator. There are flexible 2D editing and publishing tools (e.g. ARCHICAD), that handle technical drawings quite nice, but not textured drawings, so a more tailored, flexible tool is in dire need. But the (seemingly) lack of interest from the development side is a bit saddening, since involving another tool in the workflow leaves Designer on the shelf - which is pity, since Photo is wonderfully replacing Photoshop. 2. Select same... functionality Other software generated PDFs from e.g. ARCHICAD are better structured, but one needs a lot of time to prepare them for exporting - I'm saying this workflow issue has two sides, but the lack of select same... features are also hurting a lot. (Also, ARCHICAD cannot produce .ai or .eps files, so the common denominator is DWG.) Thread here: This is almost a 3,5 years old request. To summarize: I recognize this is a long standing issue at McNeel as well, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate a usable, decent workflow involving Rhino and Designer. (I've read over there at Discourse, that someone asked older .ai support already in the Windows beta threads, but couldn't find anything related.) But from your side, adding support for generic formats, namely DWG/DXF, with layers, and functionality that helps converting technical drawings (Select same) to Affinity Designer files is a must in the long run. I can only speak from my side of course, but the increasing activity in the above linked threads might suggest, that these are features that would be very welcome. Here is a small testing pack, a .3dm (Rhino) that should originate something, that I can create a usable .afdesign file from. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nytg3owlf2rf8eh/AABtbW1dxAkhonOaRwPRI5pVa?dl=0 Thank you!
  11. +1 for this Maybe we overlooked it, but could be added to the contextual menu that comes up when double tapping.
  12. Yup, since then I've noticed that it is not just type-related. Thanks for the heads-up, I will look forward to the next betas! (As I would do otherwise.:) )
  13. Hey, I've started trying the 1.6 beta for Affinity Photo, and when playing with the text tool, this strange thing happens: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0a2hln891pw7aos/type%20rendering%20issue.mov?dl=0 The navigation feels smoother than in 1.5, but there are ,,leftover" pieces of the text when they are moved away. You can clean up when moving over them again, it's a similar game I've used to play on Windows when I was a kid.:) Is it supposed to be normal? Cheers, b
  14. I just realized AD didn't have this feature. The lack of these (or Affinity-ish implementation) selection options seriously hinder my work as well, I temporarily need to switch back to Ai for this reason. I must say I'm not amused that this thread started almost 3 years ago. [ +1 for the feature ]
  15. Same here. But I have the feeling, that a clear roadmap would put things in perspective for everyone, and threads wouldn't be growing like this one. I'm sure they have their solid reasons, uncertainities in development, why they don't give an exact date (or a broader one, like Q2 2017 e.g.) for the APu release, because expectation management can be quite hard. For me at least it is. :)
  16. Yup, I think we know that. If you have a selection (e.g. on a mask), and press option/command+backspace, like you would in PS, can you set this to ,,Fill selected area with Primary/Secondary colour"? I think most of us miss this. (D,X, alt/cmd+backspace is so deep in my muscle memory, that this missing (or well hid) feature amost hurts!)
