I'm using Designer with a cheap Wacom Intuos. While drawing with the vector brush tool, sometimes it will get stuck on that tool and won't let me click anything. I can still draw, but can't change anything, or click another tool, layer, change color... can't access the file menus or anything. If I minimize the app, then bring it back up, I can click everything again. Not sure off-hand if there is something specifically triggering this lockup. I have three artboards at the moment. Haven't noticed any pattern. Sometimes I'll switch between using the mouse and the pen. Not much more I can think of to report on that. Will keep an eye out if it happens again. AMD Radeon RX Hardware Acceleration
eqyizo replied to Mark Ingram's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
It's an issue with the 6800 gpu and affinity. It happened when hardware acceleration was on, and using another app with acceleration crashed the driver more often. Using Affinity and Spotify at the same time crashed the driver constantly (and affinity would crash half the time too, losing some work depending on the restore point). There is a forum post with others having the same issue, all with the same card. And yes, drivers are updated all the time. So I'm hoping this update fixes that conflict. Like I said, we'll see. -
AMD Radeon RX Hardware Acceleration

If benchmarks mean anything to actual usage, things should work much more as expected. I certainly hope so. Now the better question is: can I run Spotify at the same time and not have Affinity crash my video card driver constantly? I'm scared to test that one, since one of those times my computer refused to turn on for 3 hours afterward. I thought the app had bricked my whole PC. After that, I turned on WARP rendering and never looked back. Perhaps this update is hope for the future. We shall see. -
My screen goes black when using any of the affinity apps at random. Someone else posted this problem with the same gpu I have, saying it was crashing the drivers. It usually turns back on after a minute or so when windows realizes it crashed. But last night it didn't turn back on. I tried restarting my computer many times and my screen would never show. After a few hours, however, it finally turned on. But it was lagging, so I checked device manager and it wasn't using the gpu at all. I had to uninstall the device/drivers for it to work again. I thought it bricked my gpu for a while there, and I'm still worried that it could. In theory, if I ran a cheapish nvidia as the primary, this wouldn't happen, and assign my amd to handle apps that can utilize it (literally everything except affinity). But that's a somewhat costly theory, so I thought I'd ask first.

Affinity Apps causing AMD display driver to crash.
eqyizo replied to Nox's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Update: it magically worked again hours later. But still: screw this poor AMD support from affinity. It's not worth the dread that this app is going to break my computer. I wish I didn't have to come here to update so soon.... After the screen going dark yet again tonight, it never came back on. Reboots left and right, and my screen will not turn on. I think Affinity just bricked my AMD 6800 graphics card. DO NOT USE AFFINITY WITH AN AMD 6800 GRAPHICS CARD, OR ANY AMD GPU. Now to raise hell with customer support... I was using the latest version of V1 Publisher. Not even V2, trying to avoid this nonsense. Now I have to get another gpu just to ******* troubleshoot my expensive one, just so I can use my computer at all. Thanks Affinity. Loved you when I was using my Nvidia laptop. Can't say the feeling remains. God this is dumb. I want to rant more than I have. I'm so pissed. -
Fine lines around things when exporting PDF
eqyizo replied to Buell8abe's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
I had to rasterize my images to a full frame rectangle beyond the edges of the document. When I did a rectangle that only covered the stupid lines on the image, the rectangle gave me the lines too! A frickin' vector rectangle...Rasterized them together, same thing. This would be the ultimate nightmare if I was doing more complicated drawings that needed to be exported via pdf and viewed digitally (adobe acrobat). I can't imagine trying to deal with this when the document has overlapping images with different colors and text. This was frustrating enough already. It seems like something that shouldn't be a problem at all, but what do I know about the back end of it. -

Affinity Apps causing AMD display driver to crash.
eqyizo replied to Nox's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
I've just started having this issue on all v2 products running 2.0.3. Windows, AMD 6800, amd cpu too. Happens only when using Affinity, sometimes multiple times within an hour. Turned off hardware acceleration, but made no difference. If I turn my surround sound reciever on, windows thinks I'm plugging on another monitor, so it resets my black-screened monitor, so then I can keep working. I can't remember now if simply turning the monitor off and on did the trick too... -

Can't Export PDF to RGB (only has CMYK option) in AD
eqyizo replied to spiritsoul's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
This is the same on affinity v1. Doesn't look like a bug at all. From Wikipedia: "PDF/X is a subset of the PDF ISO standard. The purpose of PDF/X is to facilitate graphics exchange, and it therefore has a series of printing-related requirements which do not apply to standard PDF files. For example, in PDF/X-1a all fonts need to be embedded and all images need to be CMYK or spot colors. PDF/X-3 accepts calibrated RGB and CIELAB colors, while retaining most of the other restrictions of PDF/X-1a." All the Acrobat ones have rgb. Might want to do some research into the other types. -
The first update is going to be a beast, I think. I just came across this problem. One of many.

Any way for us to know if Serif can work with AMD's recent updates to turn on hardware acceleration for RX gpus?
