Inkscape (all platforms including Mac Intel and Apple Silicon)
Scribus (most platforms including newer Mac Intel and Apple Silicon)
GIMP (All platforms including Mac Intel and Apple Silicon)
Krita (All platforms including Mac Intel and Apple Silicon)
We all have choices. You can choose to spend your money in shareholder/VC driven company or you can invest your money in Open Source.
Sure the features may not match your current expectations but I doubt 90% of Affinity users ever used 60% of the features (that is if they worked as advertised)
Start migrating now. Pick a small project you've already completed and redo it with Open Source offerings. You may be surprised.
    Best of luck to all!

Time to look for a new home ! Open source alternatives are not where I'd want them to be (otherwise I wouldn't be using Affinity!), but they're building up in strength & versatility. Inkscape has some rough edges but is a very, very capable vector program. Krita is unequalled at painting. Gimp isn't ideal right now but they're nearing a "modern" 3.0 release, let's see how that goes. Graphite.rs is young but veeeery promising. I don't really have a Publisher alternative to offer, though.
    Farewell ! it's been nice.

Maxbe got a reaction from SnakeArtworX in Leica Fotos on iPaD now support LR, Darkroom and now C1. What about AP?
With the today update of Leica FOTOS iPad app the images uploaded using it can be edited directly with Capture One too. Previously the editors available as native by the app were Lightroom and Darkroom.
Is it there some idea so that also AP could become a native editor for Leica FOTOS? That would be very interesting for the Leica owners.
(we know that AP is one of the few editors which does have a specific iPad version, a great advantage in this case).

    Hello @Dan C,

Many tyhanks for your fast and exhaustive answer!

No real inconveniences, on the contrary: I'm happy to help AP in fixing a bug! 🙂

    Regards,

    Hi @Maxbe,
I can confirm that support added in 2.4 was specifically for the development of the Q3 RAW format and our Lens Correction database was not updated alongside this - as they use different libraries.
However, inspecting a Lecia Q3 RAW file, it appears as though the fixed lens matches that used by the Leica Q2, therefore I would expect that the 'Q2 & compatibles' lens correction is automatically detected and applied to the Q3, though I can see that is not the case and the lens is not being detected.
Consequently, I'm logging this as a bug with our development team now - to automatically apply the 'Q2 & compatibles' lens correction for the Q3 RAW file, and also perhaps adjust the name of this lens correction profile to be 'Q2/Q3 & compatibles' for clarity.
In the meantime, you can manually apply the Q2 lens profile in the develop persona to the Q3 RAW file and you should find the image is corrected as expected.
I hope this clears things up & our apologies for any inconveniences caused!

    Content Authenticity Initiative
Today (26/10/2023) Leica has launched the M11-P (https://leica-camera.com/en-US/press/new-leica-m11-p#), a version of the M11 camera which incorporates a chip that implement the concept of the Content Authenticity Initiative. This is the first camera which integrates natively this feature.
I think that this initiative is of main interest for prefessional (but not limited to) photographers, and that a professional grade software like AP should be interested in integrating this initiative in its features.
Participants to CAI are top-level subjects (Adobe, Nikon, BBC, Leica and many, many others), and get informations about the initiative is easy to find on the net.
Some open source software is already available on the site (https://contentauthenticity.org/), and being part of it is totally free.
Hope this can be a further opportunity for AP to increase its top-rated quality rank and enhance it's visibility.

Maxbe got a reaction from CCS in Affinity = PS, but how to replace LR?
I've used many of them, both professional and amateur products. In the end (I'm an amateur) I chose IMatch (https://www.photools.com/) by far the most complete (and not by subscription) IMHO.

Excellent product, extremely powerful and very well supported.
    Try it!

    Hi Dan C,

Many thanks for your prompt answer!
Now I understand what is the meaning of "... & compatibles"
Thanks too for the DNG suggestion (the fact that Leica call their raw files DNG too maybe another little source of confusion). Your suggestion is vey welcome (of course having the camera included in the FlibRAW library simplify the workflow):
    Have a nice day!

Maxbe got a reaction from Krustysimplex in EXIF data not fully retained when saving images
Picture metadata are not fully shown under the metadata menù. That may be acceptable, because many of them are not so useful when editing the picture with AP.
Anyway they may be very useful when the image is later modified with other specific software.
The issue is that, when saving the image, many of them are not saved (especially maker notes).
I think that AP should save anyway  ALL the image Exif data, also the ones not shown. Not doing this often complicate a lot the life of who is editing the picture.

Hope this may be a good suggestion for AP authors...
