  2. A fine example here in an Ars Technica article of the kind of thing Mac users still have to face so I kinda do a groan/facepalm every time I see threads like this one. Also, there is an alternative way to buy and use Affinity's Mac software right this very minute... :P
  3. The way you describe this is like you're trying to access images that have been stored on your hard drive by a container type application like iPhoto, Aperture or Photos. Have you tried what MEB suggests here? It might be best if you export the photos from either iPhoto, Aperture or Photos, I believe you wouldn't be dealing with the permissions thing.
  4. I'm with you there! I can recall all those point-and-click adventure games I love playing only to see that they were not available for Mac. Every time I see threads similar as this one, my head hits the computer desk and I mutter to myself, "Not agaaaaiiiiinnnnn!..."
  5. I don't have an answer to your question but, yeah, the customization in your Mac OS X dock, those icons are pretty cool! ^_^
  6. I've used FontExplorer for years and it worked quite well. I just might buy it again if I rebuild my font collection to go with Affinity Designer. https://www.fontexplorerx.com/macfeatures/
  7. Usually before closing the window of something we worked on or quitting the application, AD or AP will ask you if you want to save the file. Just out of curiosity, have you looked into your Documents folder? I think that by default, the files get saved there? As Paul says, if you use the three commands he points out, you get to choose where the file will end up which is much more convenient then... Poof! It's gone! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gn4gVpLncA
  8. Sounds like the photo should have been taken with a polarizing filter on the lens... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polarizing_filter_(photography)
  9. Absolutely! I just bought a Huion tablet at a ridiculously low price so I guess I can say I have one. But if ever I come across a little bit more cash, I just might check the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil out...
  10. I've posted this earlier in another topic started by a forum member asking Affinity for a port to the iPad Pro but I thought this might interest you all. John Gruber on his blog posted this review/comparison of the iPad Pro/Apple Pencil versus the Wacom Cintiq and it looks very good indeed. http://www.lindadong.com/blog//apple-pencil-vs-wacom-cintiq
  11. John Gruber on his blog posted a link to a review/comparison between the iPad Pro/Pencil vs. the Wacom Cintiq. http://www.lindadong.com/blog//apple-pencil-vs-wacom-cintiq For those who can afford to buy the iPad Pro/Pencil kit, there's definitely a goldmine for Affinity right there. :)
  12. Siracusa is a heavyweight in the Mac community, so I thought this podcast of his was quite positive for helping to spread the word about Affinity. It's really looking good for you guys and for us, the users, too. Pretty exciting times, I would say. ^_^
  13. Not a question at all, but I can't post in the «News» forum so I'm posting this here. A friend told me about a John Siracusa podcast where he talks about Affinity Designer (among other apps). Siracusa, for those of you who don't know the guy, is a programmer but he dabbles into pretty much anything so he will talk about AD as a programmer/developer/UI guy. Here's the link (it starts around the 81:00 minute mark with a prologue/intro into the subject): http://atp.fm/episodes/132 Short but pretty interesting. I suppose that there will be a surge in demo downloads and users because of this podcast.
  14. Yep it's right there on their webpage! I really don't know what to make of it!
  15. Yeah one of the mods said in a reply somewhere in the forums that what was very frustrating for the team is that Apple deletes all user reviews whenever an update to the apps is submitted to Apple.
  16. Done here too, for AP and AD. Couldn't be more pleased to write those two reviews because I have total confidence in the development team and where they will take these applications even further, in time.
  17. Good luck, I hope it works ! EDIT : Glad you got that sorted ! Neat trick Andrew ! :)
  18. Did you search for pref files that might be corrupted? Just wondering if that could have something to do with it... I narrowed down the search and came up with this (see screen capture below)...
  19. Hmm. Might be easier to clear the cache using another method. I just searched to see what would come up if I needed to do the same thing and there are a lot of hits! :o
  20. Download and install DEVONtechnologies' freebie EasyFind (you can download it either from the Mac App Store or directly from the DEVON website here: http://www.devontechnologies.com/products/freeware.html)and use this to get all the files you want to weed out. That way you can pick what you want to send to the Trash and what you will keep. Since you are looking for cache files, I would look to see the files' paths and check out what is included in the cache folder(s). The search criteria is quite extensive and you can ask for files that are invisible and/or inside Package Contents.
