  1. Hi jmac, The palettes are converted to .clr files & placed in the Colors folder in the Home/Library folder. Affinity can see these as System Palettes. Whether .clr files are solid spot, I doubt. It's just a way to assign Pantone named colours to fills and/or strokes. You would still need to provide a document swatch chart, with your named colours, to help a pre-press company identify what colours must be converted to solid spot. The swatches are always CMYK, when used in Affinity.
  2. Pantone colours & spot colours in Affinity. I have used 2 apps (Color Palette Importer & ColorBook Converter) from the MAS to convert & save to the Library/Colors folder, my existing colour books & swatches for use in Affinity. They are, of course, in CMYK only but are named in their original style & can be used to create a colour chart with your PDF so that whoever performs the pre-press for output can easily convert the swatches back to spot colours if necessary. This is my workaround until full spot colour support is implemented. Paul.
  3. Hi gjb, All it means is that the eps file is RGB, but it has no embedded profile. The RGB profile is unimportant in this case as it's only the vector paths that the plotter needs. Paul.
  4. Hi gjb, Welcome to the forum. :) What export setting did you choose? The other thing you may need to check is what level eps it has to be - the default is level 3, but it may need to be level 2. I chose 'For Export' & it appears to have kept the original RGB of the AD file. Here's the resulting eps: Hope this helps. Paul.
  5. Hi rchrdnsh, Here's an example of my work around. The original file is assembled in Affinity Designer (using the cat shape in the shape tools) & I created a document palette named Cat for the Pantone colours I wish to use. The exported vector eps file is then edited in an external editor of choice that supports spot colours, printers marks etc. (in my case the open source Scribus because it's 'free'). I've attached my original AD file, a spot colour PDF that's exported from Scribus as well as relevant screen shots. Paul.
  6. @rchrdnsh, They are features in the Roadmap & will be in future updates at some time. In the mean time, I am using the open source desktop publishing app called Scribus for these features. I export the Affinity file as .eps for print & then import it into a new Scribus page. I am also working on a way to convert the CMYK colours in the imported file to Pantone spot colours. Paul.
  7. I'm not entirely sure it is what jkn wants, as I have no reference point for comparison! ;)
  8. Hi jkn, Welcome to the forum. :) Is this the kind of work space you mean? If so, it is achieved by going to the Window menu, choosing Separated Mode & then toggling to Full Screen (Ctrl-Command-F). Paul.
  9. Hi Vitalspark, The Affinity Photo Customer Beta is in this thread from MEB: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/12638-affinity-photo-customer-beta-1351/?fromsearch=1 Hope this helps.
  10. Hi Vitalspark, Check out this thread: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/12629-affinity-designer-customer-beta-1351/ I've posted this link in a reply to one of your other posts. Paul.
  11. Hi Vitalspark, Check out this thread for the customer beta, it needs the paid version to be installed also: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/12629-affinity-designer-customer-beta-1351/
  12. Hi evtonic3, I've noticed this in the past - Adobe invented Scalable Vector Graphics, yet I have found it woeful in Adobe Illustrator CS5 — Not sure about newer versions of Adobe Illustrator though! SVG files have always been better in Inkscape than AI for me also, that was my main reason for installing Inkscape. Have you tried exporting the the Inkscape version to PDF to see how that looks in AI? Paul.
  13. G'day, Rodney from across the ditch! Paul.
  14. ¿Hola dsteodoro, Cómo está usted? ¡Recepción al Foro Affinity! Paul.
  15. When Affinity release their desktop publishing app, maybe the the generic logo might be better? Paul.
  16. Thanks, mac. I also use the same CMYK profile & everything is fine. Screen shots included for Acrobat Pro 9 & Illustrator CS5, Intel MacPro3,1 running Snow Leopard: Paul.
  17. Hi Visual R, I have an Open Source Desktop Publishing app called Scribus, it supports CMYK. I exported your .afdesign file to .eps vector format, then imported the vector into my Scribus page. The screen shot below shows that the black is actually 100% solid: It will be interesting to see what Acrobat Pro & Illustrator CS5 on my work Mac show! Paul.
  18. Hi Visual R, I don't have Acrobat Pro here at home, only Reader. I have Acrobat Pro at work & I will see what happens then (in approximately 9 hours). Paul.
  19. Hi DianaBill, Welcome to the forum. :) Affinity is for Mac OS X only, so if you use Windows you won't be able to use this brilliant suite of software. Paul.
  20. Hi Visual R, Welcome to the forum. :) Your file appears to be fine. The on screen black is 100% solid:- Original: PDF: The reason it may look grey on screen is because it is not a RGB (rich) black, which means your file more closely simulates the appearance of Process Black ink on paper. I hope this explanation helps. Paul.
  21. Thanks, @Andrew! I'll remember that if I have the same issue… Sorry, LlleG, for late/non replies - it's Monday here & I'm only just taking a break from work now.
  22. Hi LilleG, Do you use Time Machine? If so, you can copy the files you were working on to another location & then restore your Mac to a point before the crashing problem occurred. Paul.
