Hi everyone

Apologies in advance for the lameness of this question. I'm an oldie newbie; it can't get much worse!

I've made a rather primitive shape made up of vectors using the pen tool. Now that the rudimentary shape is done I want to begin filling it in. The shape is a bit shield like and I want to 'colour in' the white between the vector lines. This should be simple right? I can't seem to figure it out at all!

I've attached the project and would be really grateful if someone could tell me how one should go about achieving this. Is there a tutorial or book or something I could get that teaches this stuff?

Many thanks,
Stuart

You currently have a collection of arcs and straight lines, but to fill the shape you need to have a single curve. To achieve this, select the curves with the Node Tool and use the ‘Join Curves’ button on the Context toolbar. You might also want to press ‘Close Curve’, although leaving the completed curve unclosed will not prevent it from filling correctly.

Thanks guys. All answers pointing to the fact that my curves/vectors were all open and un-fillable. I played around with the suggestions and found that 'join curves' (after selecting everything), did the trick as I was then able to fill in the shape. Great stuff!

Thanks everyone.
