Some ideas to improve Publisher

Hi,

here is my feedback while working on a long document in Publisher:

  1. There is a need for a modifier key (CTRL) for temporary acivating "View Tool" ("Hand Tool" or "Scroll Tool" maybe) in both cases -- while working on text or not. ID has 2 modifiers: ALT when working on text and SPACE when text box is not active. This is rather confusing and can lead to mistakes. I often get duplicated text box or text style when using ALT key in ID.
  2. To select multiple paragraphs which are not on the same page in Publisher can be done only by click and drag. The disadvantage of this method is that when you approach to the last pareagraph the scrolling is much faster and you need to go back and forth until you find the last paragraph. In ID you can click on the first paragraph and SHIFT click on the last one which is impossible in Publisher because the text boxes are not active (selected/editable) and the focus is lost.
  3. (bug?) When I change the value for the "Text Styles > Paragraph > Spacing > Left Indent" in a text style, the value for the "First Line Indent" is changed, too. This is rather unfamiliar and confusing for those users who work with ID or QXP.
  4. IMO the best place for the first two options in "Text Styles > Language"  which are "Spelling" and "Hyphenation" is in "Paragraph > Hyphenation" Section and for the other two -- somewhere in "Typography" section.

Clic and drag is not very precise , unlike using the Mac standards such as : 

jump to line above : com ↑  // extend selection to line above : com shift ↑

jump to line below : com ↓  // extend selection to line below : com shift ↓

I don't zoom here accidentally when using the scroll wheel for panning. Even with having to use my left (and clumsy) hand to control the mouse. Maybe your mouse has a far more sensitive scroll wheel than the ones I am using?

No 2) is in my opinion just as is should be ... when I enter an indent, I want this indent for every line in the paragraph. In case i want to have something else for the first line, I can adjust this value manually. I personally would go mad if I had to enter two numbers (first line AND rest of paragraph) everytime I wanted to move the whole text.

You obviously didn't understand me. I'm not speaking about indents.

In QXP and ID if you change the value for the "left indent", the value for the f"irst line indent" is not changed.

Yes, and I believe it is less confusing in Q/ID/Etc...up until one realizes what Affinity applications are doing.

In Q, measurements for first line are taken from the indent value, so are zero if using only a left indent value. In order to move the first line back to the frame edge, it takes a negative first line indent.

In APub, the measurements for both first line and left indent are always to the frame edge and it takes a zero in the first line field to move the first line's indent back to the frame edge.

So a difference, yes. But is it more confusing once one understands the how/why of it?
