Affinity Publisher - Building Catalogue from Excel file

Hello,
We are looking for an application to create our product catalog, but the data source will be an Excel file.

Can Affinity Publisher use the "Import data into a template" to create a product catalog, as we can do in Microsoft Publisher?

Hi JLFreeman.Eric and Welcome to the Forums,

Affinity Publisher doesn't currently have the ability to import Excel data and flow it to template.  You can copy and paste Excel data into tables in Publisher but we don't currently have an automatic data merge function.  Data merge will be coming at a later date

@stokerg   So any way to design a product catalog with lots of products doing data merge out of Publisher?
Maybe using word, excel or other alternatives and then import the data into Publisher

I've just bought Publisher thinking  I could do data merge 

I have to design a catalogue with 5000 items (I can get a excel with description, codes, prices...), and images are provided through the public web URL of the company

How would you do the process?

If you have multiple Categories, you can creat multiple PDF and merge all PDF together.

So I was wrong buying Affinity I did must go for Microsoft

is there any update on this topic? I need to write a technical reports with numerous tables. I natively use libre office calc and I would like to link them with affinity and be able to have them automatically updated.

Yes, meanwhile APub has a Data Merge feature:
(but there is no "automatic update" to external text content)

Will be there an option in the Future to update the tables, so you don't must import all tables again and format then?
For me, there will be hundreds of tables.
