ashf
How do I flip a object if the original object is oblique and has moved transformation origin? (P.S. the object on attached picture is horizontally symmetric but I would use asymmetric one.) rmoorman
PixelPest
Maybe like so: 1. double 2. flip horizontally+vertically 3. draw a helper line along an edge - extend with shift 4. use Point Transform Tool to align rmoorman

Flipping along 2 axis will mirror. Question is how you determine the mirror axis point - regardless the shape.
ashf
In case like attached picture?
PixelPest
What is wrong with the result?

It's easy task with Illustrator's Reflect tool, so I wondered if there's similar way.https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/rotating-reflecting-objects.html
PixelPest
That might be a handy tool - but the question remains: What and where is the right mirror axis?
ashf
Would be like this.
ashf
Ultimately I would like to find out efficient way to flip objects for someone. This guy is a popular Origami crafter and trying out Affinity. And he does flipping objects a lot, he's pointing out Affinity is not good at flipping objects. He has been a Freehand user for more than 20 years and is still using it.https://origamiplans.hatenablog.jp/entry/2019/08/06/064418 Hideo Komatsuhttps://www.giladorigami.com/origami-database/Hideo Komatsu
PixelPest
Then I´d go this route: rmoorman and ashf
ashf
Thank you. How do you flip the object in this case? He flipped and manually rotated the object to flip it along the folding line.https://origamiplans.hatenablog.jp/entry/2019/08/06/064418
PixelPest
Not the fastest-on-earth-method but mathematically correct: firstdefence, ashf and rmoorman 2

ziplock9000
"Enable Transform Origin" should be being this instead of hacks and workarounds. That's the whole point of a transform origin, except only rotations use it.

ziplock9000
So it's been 11 months, has this extremely basic functionality been added yet? (I don't mean hacky solutions) I've looked and it's not immediately popping out to me and searches are not bringing up anything.
ashf
Please have the flip command follow the transform origin.
