I'll attach a .afstyles file to this post. If you import it, and drag it onto a Text Frame, it will change the frame's fill and stroke. (It will also change the text settings, probably to Arial 12pt, and some other text-related settings. But it will also affect the frame itself.) It's really a question, I think, of what a Style was created from, that determines how its attributes are applied to some other object. The availability of initial forms, swashes and other OpenType features depends on the font. Which particular font(s) are you using?
