File Size WAAAAYY too Big

I am really concerned about File sizes.  I have a 183 page document, no graphics, jpegs or anything.  In Page PlusX9 My file size is 332Kb, In MS Publisher 1,444kb   in Affinity Publisher 15,298KB  What Gives??   Saving History is not being used.  I like a lot of the features, but files sizes this big is ridiculous

Hi Donkore,

Welcome to the forums

Affinity Publisher is a vastly different app to PagePlus so unfortunately the file size will be different from Publisher. We save all of the layer thumbnails in the .afpublisher file due to the number of pages in your document I'd imagine this is the cause.

Am I correct in assuming that all 3 page thumbnail sizes are stored in the file? I have noticed that even on my old & slow iMac, if I change the thumbnail size in the Pages panel, the thumbnail size updates almost instantly, even in documents with 100's of pages. I can't imagine it could be done that fast if the thumbnails had to built on-the-fly each time the document was opened!

@Donkore, I know almost 16 MB might seem overly large for your file, but I don't think there is any way to avoid that if you want that kind of near realtime performance from the Pages panel & elsewhere in the app.
