Fill a rectangle with a color?

The iPad apps currently lack the control for text background colour setting. You have a text box that has adopted the underlying layer colour. The only way I have seen this happen is when copying text from a coloured background. The background gets imported too.  Devs are apparently looking into this. The only way I found to copy text without background was to have the source app full screen ie. switch apps, copy, switch apps, paste.

You can reset the text boxes to transparent using Document menu/Defaults/Revert.

Bingo. That is correct. Thanks for pointing this out to me. I choose the wrong tool for the job.

Update: Could this be the reason for the confusion?
