Stitches Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Hi all, When I hit F1 or use the drop down in designer Affinity Designer Help will not open. I get an icon at the bottom of my screen next to the program icon but the window does not open with actual content like it used to before I paid for trial. Ain't that something? Any thoughts on this? I'm new to Affinity and need this feature. Is there an online link to the help topics? Many thanks! Quote

Stitches Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Thanks for responding and the link! I'm on Windows 8.1 Help used to work, not sure what happened. Quote
Staff Patrick Connor Posted July 1, 2019 Staff Posted July 1, 2019 I expect it is open and off screen (just an educated guess). Have you ever had a second monitor attached? Stitches Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Interesting . I have a second monitor attached. Recently switched to a larger one.....a flat screen tv I just inherited with a pc input. Quote
Staff Patrick Connor Posted July 1, 2019 Staff Posted July 1, 2019 the recent switch may be the thing. If the app has "saved away" your preference for the location of the help window it would try to put it back there next time you ask for help. However if that location does not fall onto your new screens then that's a bug. Any Window being put off the visible screen should re-centre, so the help window would show on screen. I would have to test at work to see if that hypothesis is true, but if you have the old screen setup available you may be able to find the help in it's"old" position. Stitches Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 I'll have a look and see if screen resolution or something else is putting it off screen. I think this assumes I may have moved the Help window over to the other monitor which I may have..don't remember. It usually opens in the main monitor. Help window is not small, a piece of it should show up at least. I'll have a look. Thanks Quote
Stitches Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Well. I tried everything concerning screen settings and the Help window will not show up. If it is a bug folks should be careful not to whisk their Transform panel out into space! Quote
Staff Patrick Connor Posted July 1, 2019 Staff Posted July 1, 2019 Hopefully someone in Tech support will have seen this before and have a solution for you.
