AFD Beta 1.2.0.24974 Retail version required

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm getting a message "Retail version required" when opening AFD Beta 1.2.0.24974.

But I DO have the retail version 1.2.1 installed.

I opened retail version with CTRL held down to get rid of possible left over settings, tried the beta again and still the message appeared.

In the App store, the retail version has the "open" tag.

Please advise.

Thanks,

C.L.

Weird things they are a-happening :

Moved App store version to trash

Message says : Moving 2 items to trash  (   2    ????)

Can't re-install : the choice to install simply isn't there.

The App store now shows the price tag, but no option to install.

What do I do now ?

Hi catlover,

Make sure you have the Mac Store app closed. Then follow those steps:

1) Open Terminal app.

2) Copy and paste this command and then press Enter:
open $TMPDIR/../C
3) This will open a Finder window: drag the "com.apple.appstore" folder that's inside there to the Trash.
The folder you deleted is just a cache. It will be recreated as soon as you run the Mac Store app again.
4) Run the Mac Store app and try to install/update Affinity Designer. If it still doesn't work, reboot your system.

Let me know if you still have trouble.

Hi. MEB.

Thanks for your help.
Did all that, still no go, I’m afraid...
Rebooted also, didn’t make any difference.
In the app store, the price tag still has the price listed.
There is no other choice but to purchase.
Please don’t tell me I’ve got to pay again ???  (LOL)

You won't be able to buy it twice and even if it did somehow all go wrong you can request a refund - which is nothing more than clicking a few buttons in iTunes :) You need to have the latest beta installed in order for it to work with the updated app from the App Store installed - it checks details about the App and the old beta knew nothing about the 1.2.1 App Store update, so this was the cause of your original error message :)

First remove that Beta (drag it to the trash from the Applications folder).

Do you still have the Mac App Store version installed? If you have it installed, proceed to install the latest Beta from here.

This should solve the "Retail version required" message problem.

If the Mac App Store version is not installed, what's its status on the Mac Store app? Lists the price, says it's installed....

Thank you, MEB !

All's working well now.

Looks like a Beta-update was missing.

I now have Beta v. 1.2.1.25410 installed.

I'm pretty sure I did not receive an update notice, though.

Thanks again,

C.L.
