I recall reading that the Mac betas require a released version that is older than they are in order to function. So, if you've just installed the latest released version, and it's newer than the latest beta, then the beta probably won't run. What release version and beta version do you have? It is now (probably) the release version. That's why I asked what release version you have, too. Your beta version number must be higher than your release version number, I believe, for the beta to work on Mac.
