As a user of PagePlus in all its versions since the late 80,s much of Publisher is familiar. However I am really struggling getting to grips with putting text on a path.  With PagePlus you had a path icon which gave you several basic paths and you could modify on the fly once you text was added. It was so easy to bend text around objects.    I just cannot get my head around using the line tool and then inserting the text.   It just seems extremely complicated compared to what you do easily in PagePlus.   For me PagePlus was the best DTP on the market so you will need to really up the game to match it

I have looked at the help but my point is that I think it is a backward step for Affinity Publisher to have a more complicated process for putting text on a path. when PagePlus was so easy.   Publisher is based on PagePlus which was always one of the best DTP programs out there beating many of the more expensive programs with its functionality.   I am trying with the beta program but at the moment it will have to get a lot better to even be in the same league as Pageplus 9.  Who the hell thought up the black scheme ?

Not so! All of the Affinity apps have been written from scratch.

If you don’t like the “black scheme” you can switch to the light UI:

Thank you Alfred that is much better, nice and clean looking.  As to Publisher not being based on PagePlus it seems to me that you are trying to fix something that was not broken.  By all means add the extra functionality but remember "KISS it" (Keep it simple)  One of the greatest attributes of PP was it was easy to use and understand. Looking through the tutorials you seem to be getting a bit to complicated on some parts of the design process which were a one click action.   I am trying use Publisher the same as I use PP so maybe that is my problem.  As I said in the beginning I have used PagePlus since its original launch and have had every new version, each one improving on the one before.  I will keep playing with Publisher, maybe it will grow no me

I’m not personally trying to fix anything! I’m just a user, not a Serif employee: all staff members are forum moderators and have a ‘Staff’ badge under their avatars.
