  1. Thanks Alfred I have used PagePlus from the very beginning in the 80,s and was very happy with the way it works through all its many versions. I am trying to get my head around Publisher but it is much more complicated that PagePlus X9. So many things have different names and at 76 years old it is not easy to learn
  2. I have searched for an answer but no topic. In PagePlus it was high light the text and click the wanted out line colour then click the line tool very easy. But I cannot find how to put a yellow outline around black text or a different colour outline around any colour text in Publisher. Please can anyone advise or point to a tutorial that I can understand please I have to keep reverting back to PagePlus as I cannot do half the things I used to do easily in PagePlus in Publisher
  3. I have been a constant user of PagePlus from the beginning to the end, but have now moved on to Publisher. However I do miss greately the templates that were an integral part of PagePlus and made it easy to start projects. Especially creating Greeting cards. Are there any basic templates for Publisher and if so how do I get them.. I have to say I do not find Publisher as intuative as PagePlus when setting margins and sizes. It was always easier to pick out a template and get started, tweaking if necessary. I have to say I am struggling with Publisher and keep dropping back to pagePlus but I really must move on. Starting with a template would help the process. A full size A4 greeting card templete would help immensely
  4. Many thanks. The video was brill and the background went transparent and I moved it to the shield. However when I come to lock them together as one image. its not happening. It locks one or the other but not the two into one.. I am trying to add several layers to form a logo to use on a product Thank you Frozendeath but I found that a bit too complicated. Much prefer the simple click here solution.. Ahh after a bit of playing found the GROUP tool. All now works as I want it to Thanks again
  5. I am having a little trouble finding how to make a background transparent but leave the image visible when layered over another picture. ie I want to layer this image over a light gray shield but it still shows the white background of the image and I cannot work out how to do it in Publisher. Using the transparency tool makes the whole image transparent. In PagePlus you had a tool to click which would make the single color pixels of the background transparent
  6. Thank you Alfred that is much better, nice and clean looking. As to Publisher not being based on PagePlus it seems to me that you are trying to fix something that was not broken. By all means add the extra functionality but remember "KISS it" (Keep it simple) One of the greatest attributes of PP was it was easy to use and understand. Looking through the tutorials you seem to be getting a bit to complicated on some parts of the design process which were a one click action. I am trying use Publisher the same as I use PP so maybe that is my problem. As I said in the beginning I have used PagePlus since its original launch and have had every new version, each one improving on the one before. I will keep playing with Publisher, maybe it will grow no me
  7. I have looked at the help but my point is that I think it is a backward step for Affinity Publisher to have a more complicated process for putting text on a path. when PagePlus was so easy. Publisher is based on PagePlus which was always one of the best DTP programs out there beating many of the more expensive programs with its functionality. I am trying with the beta program but at the moment it will have to get a lot better to even be in the same league as Pageplus 9. Who the hell thought up the black scheme ?
  8. As a user of PagePlus in all its versions since the late 80,s much of Publisher is familiar. However I am really struggling getting to grips with putting text on a path. With PagePlus you had a path icon which gave you several basic paths and you could modify on the fly once you text was added. It was so easy to bend text around objects. I just cannot get my head around using the line tool and then inserting the text. It just seems extremely complicated compared to what you do easily in PagePlus. For me PagePlus was the best DTP on the market so you will need to really up the game to match it
