kdog3682 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I've always seen the two of these options on the "new document" selection and I'm not sure what the difference is. Quote
v_kyr Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Check the preset settings these will set as defaults (Color Space, embedded vs referenced images, bleed settings ...) and you will see and know. The specific answer to your question is this: Print: RGB (for regular printing to something like an inkjet or even for use only on a computer) Press Ready: CMYK (primarily used for offset printing) You will not see a change in the right sidebar, in the Colour format popup, until you click on one of the presets like A4 paper. Pyanepsion Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 To go further, a print file is available for a printer (therefore in RGB), and a print-ready file is intended for a press (CMYK). (If it had been correctly translated in the French version, it should read ‘Imprimante’ and ‘Imprimerie’ – it says ‘Imprimer’ and ‘Prêt à l’impression’, which doesn’t mean much). A file ready to print (Press) is a file which generally contains the following elements: The safety margin: not materialized on the printing documents, this margin guarantees that the elements will not be truncated during trimming (cutting). Cutting marks: also known as cutting lines, they indicate the final format of the document and also make it possible to identify a possible offset between the front and back. The presence of the bleed: for background elements such as in the example below (graphics, photo or simple coloured background), it is necessary to have these elements extend into the bleed area. The dimensions of the document to be supplied must therefore correspond to the dimensions of the final format + between 2 and 5 mm for the bleed.
